Well, I would argue that it benefits almost all social institutions to NOT have people think. Thinking can cause people to realize that they aren't happy and something's terribly TERRIBLY wrong - and such nonsense could cause radical changes that those in power, full of hubris while sitting at the top of the shit hole that the world has become (in several ways, not all) will not allow. Things such as -- seeing that capitalism may have run its course and it's time to take care of EVERYONE, not just those who can afford it, or that perhaps calling President Obama a socialist for working toward changes in the health care system is PROBABLY not exactly correct, and might be antagonizing and encouraging people who are blindly fighting.

Also - I believe that there ARE several teachers who would LOVE to see their students apply critical thinking to their subjects -- but then you also open up the opportunity to be put in a position where you don't have the answer. While, in my opinion (as a historian), that's completely natural and GOOD to not have all the answers, but a high school American History teacher may not want to get into sticky situations where the students ask: "Gee, why did the Europeans give the American Indians blankets infected with small pox? Wouldn't that just kill them all really fast? If so, then why do we hold these people up as heroes in our society?" [Not to mention that said teacher would THEN be called in front of the PTA for not being patriotic enough with the propoganda/slop they should be feeding the students]

As for Bush -- it's a tough call. I'm not sure why so many people voted for him when it seemed that no one really WANTED HIM IN POWER ANYMORE. I'm willing to bet that either Ralph Nader (as he always does) split the democratic vote, or else John Kerry wasn't a strong enough candidate to comfort the masses. (At least I felt he was wishy washy -- but I'm smart enough to know it's a 2 party system in America. Voting for Nader has the same effect as flushing the ballot down the toilet) Now that he's out of the office, I've looked back at George W. Bush and decided that he's quite tragic. I don't think that he EVER wanted to be President at a serious level, and I get the feeling that he bended under the will of his father. ALL of the awful stuff that happened - doesn't seem likely that he actually had the brainmeats to DO that, you know what I mean? He just kind of chilled in the White House and passively watched things happen, signing when he needed to and doing as he was told...

OH WAIT - he's like the paragon of American society! That's all we ever do, because while we say "SHOOT FOR THE STARS" - that actually means "SHOOT FOR THE MIDDLE AND DON'T RUFFLE ANYONE'S FEATHERS BECAUSE WE WANT EVERYONE TO BE MEDIOCRE!"

I came to the conclusion that we would all look at the magical, invisible web of communication and stuff that we lovingly call the internet and see that "Holy crap - I can do this awesome thing called BLOGGING. I CAN GET MY OPINIONS AND IDEAS OUT THERE IN A KIND OF ANONYMOUS AND REAL WAY. PEOPLE WILL GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WHAT I SAY" -- and that's why I thought so many people in this generation were waking up and getting more active... Sure, they are - it's a slooooooooow process, but it also makes people like Christian Weston Chandler (if you have not seen Chris Chan, I would actually suggest doing so. He is one of the worst excuses for human life I've ever met, and while I'm horrified by everything he does, I'm oddly compelled to continue to watch and keep up with his stupidity) actually get OUT THERE.

About Obama: So many people get uncomfortable/nervous/amused/insert emotion here about the nobel peace prize, because Hitler won it for "no apparent reason" as well. So apparently those people believe that Obama is like...Hitler? KIND OF RIDICULOUS, IF YOU ASK ME.

Well I would argue that most people are not happy to begin with but are not encouraged to think about it in a really substantial, internal, healing way, or think about the worldly aspects of their emotions. Instead their encouraged to buy food or material goods to make them feel better, or go to the doctor and have the medical institution help you, and if you really feel like it you can stomp your feet and protest. They don't mind making you feel like you're being heard. But does it really make a change? No, because that's not on the main agenda of these institutions.

I also think it's good for the teachers to not have all of the answers all the time because you know what? That means that there is room for education to evolve. The goal of our entire race is inherently to evolve, so what's with the opposition to what we're only naturally leaning towards.

GW Bush - you know, I was watching something about him somewhere recently and you know, if you just look at his expressions and listen to the words he says and like.. you have a point with what you said. He doens't seem like a president type of guy and he isn't very diplomatic, he probably just was doing what he was told because he's part of a family line in the Freemasonry group that dates back to European Royalty. Or so I've heard. But he and his father ARE members of that Freemason thing.

OH WAIT - he's like the paragon of American society! OMG HE IS!! or was XD?

And yeah, I think I'm seeing a pattern of people who speak their mind on the internet but that's the only place they do it. Unless they get big. They can say all they want under the veil of the computer screen, but in reality are the reflections the same? All I know is that a lot of my friends, in real life, find me too much to handle, find me a little "heavy", and always tell me I make them think about all of this interesting stuff whenever we talk. It's like, is having a stimulating conversation such a rare thing that actually having one is tiring? I actually really miss having stimulating conversations because there are so few people who will really ride the waves with me. In fact, there are two, and you are one of them. Granted that makes you pretty special in my life, it makes me wonder, like you said in a text message, what makes people think that they're thinking? XD

And as for Obama.. god I am so sick of all of these mixed emotions people have. They're completely baseless! Pay attention to what's going on, then insert your emotions.

*hands you a towel* XD
