Rainbow from 彼’s ship! Earlier this week they moved eastward into the next timezone, so we're now just 4 hours apart! That gives us more time to chat on watsapp XD
For now, the plan is stop at Sri Lanka once for refuelling before heading down the Strait of Malacca, pass by Singapore to reach their destination along the East Coast of Malacca. That should be around 25th July according to their current speed, so if all goes well, he should be back in early August! ^3^
Dad's birthday
Every wednesday is our family day where my kor (older brother) and his family would come over for dinner. So we celebrated dad's birthday one day in advance. Lots of good food. Dad cooked char siew and our family helper padault whipped up tofu with mincemeat and long beans, lady's finger with ikan billis, watercress &pork rip soup, and steam prawns with glass noodles~
My mom bought my dad a pretty interesting cake. It is half strawberry and cream, and half chocolate cream. Tasted really awesome.
Yuki
Yuki has finally stopped biting as much, though she still does it for attention. She doesnt lick us as much it seems she doesn't quite understand that licking will get her more attention than biting does. (we love the feeling of her tongue on us. Bobby used to lick us alot.) I'm hoping that after she finishes her vaccination and we can bring her out to meet other dogs, and Ros can bring her dogs over, perhaps she can learn a little more from her new friends.
We're also getting a groomer for her on Sunday as her fur is getting long and tangling. It's the same groomer we got for Bobby in his last 2 years. She was a visiting groomer who would come to our place to groom dogs in the comfort of their homes. I've never met her since I was in Japan those 2 years, but I've heard she is wonderful. She will give Yuki a basic groom and also give us a lesson on how to care for a dog with curly hair (Bobby's hair was straight and much easier to manage).
Toilet training wise, she's shown great improvement. For yesterday, she actually did her business in the correct spots all day, except the last time, where she peed in my room, which she rarely does. I have a feeling it was out of vengeance because I bit her back (lightly but gave her a shock because she has never been bitten before) for biting me hard. ;x
On Love
I recently got back in touch with a friend HJ. We were close back in university and the first years after graduating because we were on exchange to Hokkaido University together, lived in the same dorm, and shared so many memories together. We also took our Honours year together after coming back from Japan and graduated together. We drifted apart after graduation, but stayed in contact and still met up occasionally.
She is the one friend I learned most on about love and relationship, from watching her and her relationships, from encouraging her to follow her heart to comforting her after a terrible heartbreak. The mistakes she made, the right decisions she made, through all those I watched her grow to become a confident young lady, still in pursue of happiness. I'm not sure if she has a boyfriend at the moment after her last rough breakup about 3 years ago, but I'm quite certain with or without, she is happy right now, recently having managed to achieve her dream of opening a shop - she opened an online shop selling reusable bags and straws etc which reflects her passion for saving the earth.
So I decided to put a quick summary of the stuff I learnt from watching her and a few other girlfriends over the years:
・The idea that "if our love is true, it will never die out. It shouldn't take so much effort. " is so wrong. Love changes. It is normal for the passionate love we feel at initial stage of our relationship to feel cool down, and evolve into a more stable, intimate form of love that is really more based on reliance, trust and simply enjoying the comfort of being there with each other. At this stage, it takes effort from both sides to stay commited and keep the relationship going.
・"If he loves me he will change for me" doesn't happen. If you love someone, you accept him or her for who he or she is. If he needs changing so much, he probably isn't the right person.
・"I love him enough to change for him." Should never change for a person. Changes are only for yourself.
・"If he loves me he will leave his family for me". No he won't. And if he does, he will leave you for someone else in the future.
・There's no such thing as a proper end to a relationship. In a breakup, there is always one person who is the dumper, and the other is the dumped. If the dumper had any more to discuss or give, there wouldn't be a breakup. There's no point asking for anything more from the dumper. There are no words, no gifts the dumper can give the dumped that would help the dumped heal. Only the dumped can heal him or herself through time.
・"All we need is love! Love will solve all problems." - Dramas and movies really love to emphasize these, but nope. Can't live off love. Still need food and shelter, and lots of efforts to resolve all those problems.
・Just because he wasn't Mr. Right, doesn't mean love didn't happen. It was just the wrong person, wrong time, wrong place. He was just part of the journay to the final destination.
・To love someone, and be loved by someone, you need to first appreciate and love yourself.
・Don't get married/coupled just for the sake of getting married/coupled/getting old/eggs are dying. Being with the wrong partner is far worse than being alone.
・Even if you're the prettiest girl in the world, if you're otakuing in your room all day with no effort to meet people, you're not going to meet someone. Korean dramas of some dashing guy falling through the roof into your lap only happens in dramas.
That's just some of my thoughts...

I've been listening to music on my earphones at work. It's been raining alot recently so this song caught my attention. It's a nice song. Nice to work to. The English lyrics was confusing (Japlish) until I read the translation for it and got a "ah, so that's what she was trying to say" moment. lol
Food
青蛙撞奶!!Boba Tea! From R&B tea near where we stay. 彼 and I tried it once when we were in Taiwan for our Pre-wedding photoshoot. It was so-so. But when I tried the same tea from this shop in Singapore, I was instantly hooked. It is basically fresh milk with bubbles made from brown sugar, and melted/caramelized brown sugar=lava. The bubble and lava are warm, while the resh milk is cold. The combination is heavenly~ But given that it is alot of sugar, I don't dare to drink it too much and have been limiting myself to once a month... but even now I'm still thinking and craving for it... TwT
We've been exploring more lunch places at work. This is from
La Teh Cafe. There're actually 3 pieces of chicken cutlet hidden below curry, and it was pretty good. Gonna try their HK noodle next time.
We went to Jia Xiang Nasi Lemak again . They are closing down next Friday, so we're taking the last few chances to enjoy them. We'll probably go again next week. XD Last time I ordered their Rendang Chicken, this time I ordered Har Jeong Chicken (Prawn Paste fried chicken). It was awesome- so crispy and flavorful. Also tried their Butterfly pea tea (in blue). Can't remember what are the white and red drinks...
Char siew& Roast Pork Wanton Mee from
KL Shao Roast. This is total steal at 5.80, and inclusive of a lime juice some more. Been there a few times, and still loving it.
Soft boiled eggs, Singapore style! I went bouldering again last night... I've been skipping dinnners these days in an attempt to slim down abit, but 彼 advised I should eat some food, especially protein after exercise, so I got myself some milk, fruits and cooked 2 soft-boiled eggs~ I always have difficulty remembering how long I need to boil the eggs for it to be in this perfect runny state. Google sensei said to place room-temperature eggs in boiled water for 6 minutes, and tada~ I have the prefect Singaporean style - soft boiled eggs - eat with pepper and dark soy sauce.
