On a separate note, I bought my air tickets to go home for the end of this year for my friend's wedding. Wasn't cheap ;x but at least i can stop monitoring the prices daily and stop worrying about tickets being sold out... I feel like a terrible friend but if not for the wedding I really would rather not fly back during that period of time - It's freaking expensive because it is the end of the year right smack school holidays where tickets are double the usual price. Plus I will be actually going home for good just 5-6 weeks later. ;x

The cookies that I got for White-Day was absolutely delicious~ So went by the shop one day after work, and bought some for 彼. Miss the days that I made cookies back at home... Also bought a tiramisu to try it out, it looks really pretty, but the cookies are far better.

Spring

It's still cold but starting to feel like Spring, with flower buds appearing and some flowers already blooming. Sakura festivals start next week~

UFO catcher!
I went out yesterday to mail out the t-shirt and cookies for 彼 and the Nyanko sensei hand-warmer for my sis.
And, also to check out this new FF14 figurine series at Taito's UFO catcher. And... I ended up catching all 4 figurines in the series. It was much easier than I expected, and it was really fun. The nutkin (squirrel) is really cute to bits XD. Packed them up and sent back to 彼 XD

Hakuba Snowboard Trip

Went Hakuba with my fellow Singaporeans on secondment here. Sm arranged most of the trip. She and K took the night bus out on Sat night, while E and I took the Shinkansen over and joined them the next day. The snow was ice-kachang which is the next best I could ask for after powder. And the scenery was absolutely beautiful.
[Hakuba Snowboard Trip]

E and I departed Sunday morning on Shinkansen to Nagano.

Bought Eki-ben. It's supposed to be Taiwan braised meat rice set, but doesnt raelly taste that much like it, but still not bad.

We arrived at Nagano station around 10am and then changed to a bus to get to Hakuba.

Passing by small towns on our way to Hakuba. More and more snow along the way.

There are several ski resorts at Hakuba. We're going to Hakube Happo-one.

Arrived at Hakuba Happo-one. Rented E's stuff (not that great.. rentals are really hit and miss.)

Up on the slopes. Spent day 1 with them guiding them across the mountain to an easier slope ;x

E was really unlucky.. In my 10 years of snowboarding I have heard of snowboards that come flying down the hill but it was the first time I actually encountered one. One moment she was sitting beside me exhausted from all the braking since she couldnt carve her way down, the next moment she was half dead from pain and there's a free board beside her with no one strapped to it. Moments later a panicked couple come running down. Apparently they hurt their leg and decided to take off their board and walk down the slope. Half way down they accidenatally let go of the board, and it landed on the wrong side and came sliding down the mountain at high speed... It's really dangerous and another Japanese boarder who saw the whole inccident scolded them badly for it. The couple were really apologetic and worried for E. E managed to slide her way down the hill despite the pain while I exchanged numbers with the couple. Fortunately she only suffered a very painful and bad bruise. No cuts, no internal organs damaged. The couple called several times after to check on her too...

Accomodation was pretty good, with a small buffet for dinner and an empty, a bit creepy onsen...

On day 2, I went up to the steeper slopes alone. The scenery was so breathtaking.

Could go further up, but the snow quality was surprisingly bad, and the slopes were expert, so didn't go up all thr way to the top.

But really, the mountains were so beautiful.

On my way down the expert slope. The snow was hard with frozen snowballs, so I was basically bouncing my way down. It was terrible. After that headed to another side of the mountain where the snow was wonderful ice-kachang.

My lovely board Sakuran was really really good! Totally worth the money.

Met up with the girls for more runs on the easy slopes.

Last few runs.

Lunch - Happo Cheese burger. Pretty good.

We stopped snowboarding around 2plus. Sm and K2 had to catch their bus back earlier so they left first while E and I went for a good onsen soak.

Bought this shirt for 彼 at the onsen.

Then headed back to Nagano to have dinner before catching our trian back to Tokyo.

Dinner at Kamakura pasta. They had a free flow bread eat-all-you-can whih wa

Shinkansen back to Tokyo~

Breakfast - sausage, egg, toast with garlic butter and white coffee 彼 brought over for me.
