Neo Tokyo Samurai Black Tour, The Fillmore @ San Francisco, Report

Jun 17, 2010 13:19

Wrote this the night of the show so it won't make all that much sense but I figured I share the experience anyway.

This report was also based on what I could remember off the top of my head so it won't make chronological sense.

Set list as I can remember it, not even in order:
-Survive
-What's My Name/My Name Iz Oresama.com (we totally fucked up the call back section)
-Ossan Ossan Ore Nanbo
-Boom Hah Boom Hah Hah
-Ame ni Utaeba ~Pichi Pichi Chapu Chapu Ran Ran Blues
-Coin Lockers Baby
-Kimi ni Funky Monkey Vibration (also fucked up the call back on that too)
-New Song #1: ??? (I have no idea what the titles were except for one BIG EXCEPTION but I do know there were three.)
-New Song #2: ??? (Please feel free to fill in the gaps in my memory for me)
-New Song #3: SUPER MOTHER FUCKER BITCH (I kid you not, that is the actual title. I was in complete and utter disbelief throughout the song. Totally thought he was joking for a moment there.)
-MC/inspirational speech (talked about how sad and disappointed he was about how he had to cancel last year's US tour)
-Kimi ni Negai wo
-Superhero
-Shouri no V-Rock!!
-Are You Ready To Rock?

ENCORE:
-Subarashiki Kana, Kono Sekai -What a Wonderful World-
-Sakihokoru Hana no You ni-Neo Visualizm-

For an hour and a half set, with intermission, it was a damn good run.

He really scaled back this year. Only him, two guitars, a drummer, and a keyboardist. Not even a bassist, which he poignantly pointed out during his first MC. No fancy costume changes, no petals or umbrellas, no crazy stage decorations, none of that. Just him, guitar, cap, super tight pants, tank top, and a cool kimono detailed jacket. Not even that much fan service (in terms of reaching out to the audience, but he did take off his jacket, and stand on the speaker on the far right/stage left at one point). They didn't even throw out any picks or random stage swag.

Speaking of swag, only special edition towel, t-shirts, tank tops, tote bag, wrist band, and DVD at the merchandise table this tour. Grabbed a white girly t-shirt with glittery lettering, supposedly designed by the man himself. Contemplated the tank top after watching the show with him in it (if he wears it, it will sell), but wifebeaters only look good on other (really fit slim) people anyway. Wrist bands sold out. Tank tops almost sold out. There's hardly anything left to buy!

He got a bit choked up during one of his earlier MCs before playing "Kimi ni Negai wo". After intermission (?), Miyavi introduced his band and they did their own little solos, at which point he did leg stretches on stage, and lost his balance and fell on his butt. Then he just sat there for a bit looking adorable before getting back up. :D

At one point, some girls screamed really high pitch, to which Myvs was super amused. So for one section, right around the second half, he started screeching into the mic too. That was funny. :D He stuck his tongue out a lot too. AND near the beginning, he flipped part of his jacket and someone screamed "SEXY!"...to which he flipped up his tank top in a super slick move...only to ask us "Really?"...to which of course we all screamed our fucking brains out. ♥

Oh, and while waiting in line, someone was sending around a t-shirt for people to sign. I wrote the misattributed Mark Twain quote "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco," in hopes of inciting some type of reaction from him. Thanks to whoever you are for doing that!

Anyway, that was a really random report. Thanks for reading?
