Pinterest trials and errors Part I

I love baking, we all know that. I also love Pinterest. It comes as no surprise then, that I am often finding recipes on Pinterest that I wast to try out and see what they are like. With the upcoming move, I have some time off that I am spending with family and so for the first time in 6 months I have access to a full kitchen that I can use as I please.

I believe that as anyone in my situation is apt to do, I have fully taken this opportunity as the blessing it is and set to work. What follows will be comments and possibly a few pictures of the outcome of my trials via Pinterest.

My first foray into the land of baking was to try Baked Pumpkin Donut Holes. I love pumpki, so when I saw this I thought "I HAVE to have these. Now." And the picture looks so yummy!

See? It's very hard not to want that treat in your belly! Now I followed the ingredients list as closely as I possibly could and also the directions, popped them in the oven and waited. I had my reservations early on because the batter had more of a cake consistancy than anything else. But I have never made any kind of doughnuts, so what do I know? So again, in the oven and waited.

And waited. I pulled them out once when they passed the toothpick test, but they still were rather....gooey for lack of a better word. I thought they tasted horrible and they did not spring back when poked, so I threw them back in the oven.

An additional 10 minutes in the oven and they were no longer gooey. However, they still had the same taste to them, which I find to be awful. I imagine that the sugar and cinnamon coating will only make me feel like I have masked the underlying HORRIBLE that came out of this creation.

When split open, they do not even slightly resemble the picture. In fact, they are a different color. I lay out all the ingredients and triple check before I bake. I have to, the TBIs have made it hard for me to work on a whim. So I know I matched the recipe. I have no idea what went so wrong here, but I am disheartened by the overall lack of anything worth while.
