Sim Of The Month - Gordon Loadsworth
Ok, so. Pinstar is a genius. I've been having loads of fun with his Sim Of The Month challenge over at BBS. Yeah, yeah, it's the BBS, but the challenge is awesome, really! Pinstar releases a sim each month, and a player has to reach sim-specific goal, while obeying sim-specific restrictions, in as few days as possible. It all started back in June with a simple task of getting a completely non-athletic sim to the top of athletic career (simple but interesting concept nonetheless, I would have never thought of it). It only gets better with each new sim and they all form a story together. I'm far behind and will probably never catch up, 'cause I'm SLOW, but it's still fun! So, let me show you my June sim, Gordon!

Bio: Eternal fan of at least 7 major sports, Gordon has more sports jerseys than he does regular clothing. This is partially because he likes sports so much, and partially because ‘normal clothing’ doesn’t come in his size. A lifetime of eating and watching sports on TV has taken a major toll on his body. Tired of being mocked for his lifestyle and look, Gordon has decided to turn over a new leaf and do the impossible. Rather than watch sports, he wants to be out on the field playing along side them. Can Gordon do it?
Traits: Couch Potato, Slob, Loser, Natural Cook, Clumsy.
Goal: Reach the top of the sports career.
Restrictions: Gordon may not select the “Workout at gym” option while at work.
LTW: Reach the top of culinary career. (It is allowed to change sim's LTW but I didn't know that. Should have chosen the culinary librarian one, 'cause it can actually be fulfilled while doing the challenge.)
Gordon heads straight to the stadium and gets a job as rabid fan. At this point, the challenge seemed quite impossible. Oh, those... shoes?
His next stop is the gym. He starts with some light cardio workout. Insane neighbor, Gus Hart, works out in his swimwear.
His wife, Dorie Hart, does the same.
Apart from pushing Gordon to work out in the gym, I made sure he was happy. Mmmmmmmmm!
Fast forward a few days, Gordon has lost almost all of his weight. He also lost his horrible jersey. Really, what was Pinstar thinking? That thing didn't even look like a sports jersey.
Fast forward another few days. Gordon is doing quite well. He earned several promotions, new friends and a completely new body (*strokes*), but he realizes something is missing from his life.
This is Monika Morris, Gordon's co-worker and a love-interest.
They have a good time together, but Gordon still haven't tried to seduce her.
He lost the Bob-Newbie-type beard, because he doesn't have the Bob-Newbie-type belly to go with it anymore.
Things got interesting on the Monika front.
Aaaaand score! Gordon learns that Monika is a great kisser. :)
That's when I noticed Gordon's maid :/ She's so pretty, in an old-movie-star kind of way. And her name is Kate Pistachio, how cool!
But Gordon is a decent guy. Since he got Monika pregnant, he asked her to be his fiancée.
Time flies when you're having fun :) Gordon grew old and he was still at level 5 or so. That's BAD!
For some strange reason, I couldn't get the "Move in" option to show for Monika. She gave birth to a boy whom she named Anson. Here's Gordon visiting her house.
Later, they all moved to a fail!house built by me. Monika doesn't seem happy.
Anson grew up! Awwww! He has his daddy's eyes.
Monika burns down the kitchen, in order to get my attention...
...so I finally gave her a much needed makeover, if only to change that god-awful orange lipstick. Very Victoria Beckham.
Gordon maxes athletic skill, but he's still at, like, level 7.
His performance meter was SO close to being full, so I called over his boss to ask her for promotion. But...
She DIED right there. Check out Gordon's "I don't believe it!!!!!" face.
Gordon teaches Anson to talk. Seems a little early for this type of conversation.
Anson grows! All TS3 children look the same, it's annoying! BTW, he's Good, Ambitious and a Genius.
Monika threw a big birthday party for Anson. One of the guests (Iqbal Alvi) died! Gordon cannot believe it, again. Poor Anson.
Finally, Gordon's promoted to Superstar (Level 9), but his age bar is dangerously full!
I totally lost the battle against time - a bad "chance card", a game day and a day off. No chance of promotion and Gordon's age bar is completely full.
Gordon tries to ask his boss for promotion. I tried everything, but the option never came up. I was sure I was gonna fail the challenge.
During all that madness, Anson grew up to teen. Good Sense of Humor is his 4th trait, he's just so perfect. (I had the option to choose it, but I randomized it.)
Somehow, Gordon managed to stay alive for a few more days. And finally, against all odds, he became a Sports Legend at the age of 92. It took me 37 days to complete a challenge, that's the lamest score ever :)
(Btw, you're allowed to turn agging off, set it to epic, or use ambrosia. I didn't, 'cause I like seeing hood progress. And even if I did, it would still take me 37 days to complete the challenge.)
Through the entire course of the challenge, Gordon rolled wants to quit job or at least skip a day. As soon as he got that last promotion, he wanted to retire. I fulfilled it immediately. Finally, he'll have some time for his family and his TV. Also, the family accumulated quite a bit of money. The day after, they moved to a nice house on the beach.
That same evening, Gordon died. :( He seemed happy as a ghost, though.
I know it's short and easy, but I'm very excited about this, 'cause this is the first time EVER that I completed a sims challenge. :) Also, Gordon is so lovable, I admit I was crushed when he died a day after he reached his goal. I think I'll stick with his little family for a while, and also check what happened to the premade families, before I move to Theresa (July sim).

I didn't do much to present how interesting it actually is, so I'd recommend this blog, which contains an actual (and a very cute) story about the characters (only Gordon and Theresa so far, but it's very thorough, and it's updated daily).
