Attention: Status Update
Ok, I've kept you guys waiting far too long (a month flies when you're putting off making a difficult decision) but honestly I was really feeling the strain of a dying icontest community (in general, not just my own) and I needed to step back and think about how it was impacting my ability to mod, as well as my interest in continuing to do so. I understand the attraction of 20in20/challenge communities, but I also don't want LJ to lose all its traditional icontests, because they're two very different things and we need both of them!
However, with all things considered, I don't think that the icontest community can handle the 'strain' of having three more icontests running and I honestly don't feel I can handle the pressure of trying to keep three icontests alive during such slow times. I've decided the best thing to do is to close two of my communities: game_abc & mixnmatch_itest and focus all my attention on the remaining one: clamp_icontest. While I had high hopes for both and considered many other options before finally resting on this decision, Game ABC has a much smaller fan-base and Mix 'n Match Itest is just still too new for either to warrant the measures needed to increase their activity. It seems less risky to stick with the one that has been around the longest and had the highest participation levels overall throughout, plus it will always be my first <3
That said, I'd be more than happy to run a final challenge (some sort of icon pair, I already have a few ideas) and give this community a proper send off... but only if there are enough members willing to participate, as I don't want to waste anyone's time. Leave a comment here if you're interested. Otherwise, this is goodbye (unless you happen to be a CLAMP fan, in which case I'd love to see you over there) and I do thank you all for the fun times while they lasted! Of course, there is always the chance that things will pick up again and I'll find a way to re-open, but for now this is where I leave you or in the words of Barney Stinson:
