I certainly can kill a festive holiday in one swoop of exclamation. A mother can always tell when her child is hiding something, or at least mine has always sported that “gift” on those occasions that I try and cover over, blend in or just not expound on the whole truth

My daughter came home from college this weekend to celebrate her 20th birthday. She had been complaining of severe abdominal pain since Wed. On Sat., before her celebration birthday dinner, I insisted we go to the ER and get a final resolution on her pain. Well, 7 hours, and many invasive tests later (including ultrasound and CT scan), they finally found an ovarian cyst. Yay... I'm glad they found it and daughter can obtain appropriate care... but MAN, the TRAUMA we went through being in the ER for that many hours!!!
Daughter's birthday dinner ended up being cold pizza at 2am. :-( But the plus side? She is well enough to attend a formal function in NYC this weekend with Lisa Ling as the keynote speaker. And now hearing your story??? Well, it just makes me grateful for good medical care (even when I'm frustrated with it), and knowing there are still happy endings out there!
Your b/day is just around the corner... I hope you are planning something very special for yourself... and your very wonderful heart!

I am glad that they found the tumor/cyst when they did. I don't even want to think about the bill(s) that are about to roll in.
