It feels so good to sink into my bed tonight. This past week has been fairly crazy; one of our patients up on tele has severe dementia and is convinced he is in his own home instead of in a cardiac unit at the hospital. 1) Hee! I took the JC pic when he was doing promo for Schizophrenic at one of the bars downtown. That night was a hoot. I miss those days.

2) Dementia is such a hard thing to deal with all around. It's totally not these patients' faults that they're unaware of their surroundings or that they shouldn't be pulling out IV's or trying to run into the hall, etc, but it's frustrating nonetheless and you can't help but get angry sometimes, even though the patient has no more control over themselves than you do over them...especially when you find them on the floor, bleeding, when you'd walked out of the room not two seconds earlier.

3) READ THE BOOK! I loved the book, and I saw the movie yesterday, and even though it's cliche, the book was ten thousand times better. If you do go to see the movie first, though, you'll have to let me know what you think. I'd be curious to hear someone's perspective who hadn't read it before they saw the film. I think it's probably far more enjoyable a movie if you didn't obsess over the details, etc.

And today's shift was actually decent! I'm hoping it carries over into the rest of the weekend!
