It was not particularly busy in Gray & Sons today, but that was nothing unusual. Gabriel drummed his fingers on the table and tried to ignore the flashing red message-button on the answering machine.
A man - Chandra Suresh, he'd said his name was - kept calling him. At first he'd ignored the calls, but now ... well, the man had insisted he was special.
But what if he didn't want to be special? It was his mother who always insisted that he was destined for greater things than watchmaking, but he ... liked watchmaking. He was good at it, it was all right money... but she wouldn't be proud of him unless he was special, right?
He had been one single number away from dialing Chandra when he heard the door's bell ring. He set the phone down on the hook hastily and looked up from his spot in the back room, slowly making his way to the front to see who was in his shop.
