Second time in two weeks that my apartment has changed into...this place.

Oh well. A beer wouldn't go amiss, especially considering the crap Adam's wanting me to wade through.

The first page is botched legalese and makes me wish Joanne was here. To help me, of course. Nothing more than that.

Of course it wouldn't be anything more than that. But because narrative irony is so much fun, Joanne, expecting her own apartment, wanders in not far behind Ali. She stares around, blinking. "This is not Milliways."

"So I've been told." I glance over and blink. Huh. When you wish upon an unknown location... "Hi, Joanne."

"Hey, Ali." Joanne walks over, still slightly confused. "Where is this place? I probably should be more surprised that some random place has shown up in my apartment, but around here, anything's possible."

"I have no idea, to be honest. Adam says it's not Milliways--he's here. And I met Angel--a different one, it'd seem. One who's with Mark...and hasn't died. It's...weird."

Joanne blinks. "Well, Mark's had a crush on Angel for eons, but he'd never actually do anything about it. He's not about to do that to Collins." She pauses. "That's just... really damn strange." She sits in a chair, and rubs the bridge of her nose. "And here I am without my ibuprofen."

"I doubt he'd do anything to Sara either." I frown, digging in my bag. It's the Black Hole of my life--contains everything. "Here." I hold out the bottle to her.

"No, he really wouldn't. Hell, I don't think anyone would do anything to Sara. She's rather intimidating when she wants to be." Joanne's not all that intimidated, mainly recognizing another strong and determined woman when she sees one. She does, however, take the medicine bottle. "Thanks. I love Mark, I love working for him, but it sure brings some really strange side-effects."

"Yeah, it does. Never thought dropping a notebook in the Life would eventually lead to...well, whatever the hell this is. But there are certainly worse people to work for. He actually cares about us." I don't want to bring up the ugliness of the set trashing and the fallout from that, but it's still very much on everyone's mind. "Has Chris Grey been located yet?"

Joanne laughs. "We all have strange stories of how we got pulled in. Strange sometimes, listening to new people in staff meetings. Well, when Adam and I aren't trying to keep Mark awake." She facepalms, then turns a bit stony-faced. "No, he hasn't. And that's even with some of the hackers trying to find him. Damn boy has so much money, he doesn't have to use credit cards. He knows we're looking for him, though, so he'll make a mistake -sometime-."

"Caitlin's waiting to take her second test. If he got her infected, I'd almost feel sorry for him when we catch him. Almost." I know my face is stony. Caitlin's the crew's little sister in a way.

"I won't feel sorry for him at all." Joanne shakes her head. "And if anyone ends up with charges from what we'll do to him, I know I'll get you all off. It's justifiable. Bastard."

"No kidding. And I honestly don't understand what he'd hoped to accomplish by his actions. He's only making himself and the other Idiots look even worse. I didn't think that was possible."

"I didn't either. He really has an ax to grind, or so it would seem." Joanne sighs. "I just wish we could catch the idiot so we can get on with things."

"Like you said, sooner or later, he'll do something stupid." She looks unusually stressed. "Are you okay?"

Joanne waves it off. "Oh, I'm fine. Just stressed as always. Getting the damn film out is a pile of legal paperwork that Mark totally doesn't know anything about, and thus, it lands on me."

"Adam gave me a pile of stuff he didn't know what to do with. Some of it is in legalese. Huttese legalese if I'm any judge." Yes, all members of Today for You are shameless geeks.
