This is -- not really what Blackwood was expecting. The woman currently seated at the bar is eying the bowl of mints with something along the lines of venom, now dressed in clothes that, while finely tailored, were not made for her. Not like this, anyway.

Still, after a beat, she reaches up and adjusts her cravat. No point in looking sloppy, even now.

Kite has not seen anyone look that angry about candy in...ever.

"Something wrong with them?"

"They --"

She clears her throat, half out of surprise at the sound of her own voice and half because it's Kite.

"I wouldn't recommend them."

[spareprincess]

"Really."

She's more than half tempted to grab one then and there, but she does remember the last time she picked up something strange from the bar. (She blacked out and woke up with a dog infatuated with her.)

"Anything in particular you object to?"

She starts to speak, and then stops, pursing her lips.

"My gender."

"Ah."

Kite looks her up and down, taking in the state of her clothes.

"...well, if it's any consolation, you look...very nice."

A smirk quickly crosses Blackwood's face as she brushes back her hair from her face (the ox ring still sits - albeit a little loosely - on her finger).

"You're too kind."

"Hardly," she says, and isn't that a case of deja vu.

The ring clinches it. She keeps her jaw from dropping, but only just.

"Henry?"

She straightens her (his) waistcoat.

"Kite."

[spareprincess]

Kite says something that might be 'holyfuckingshit,' but it comes out muffled with both of her hands over her mouth like that.

"I...

...why didn't you just say so?"

Her eyes betray her amusement, as her face is otherwise stoic.

"There's no fun in that."

[spareprincess]

The corner of her mouth twitches.

"Well, it's nice to see you've kept your sense of humor."

[walkswithdevils]

"I try."

(Having changed genders so abruptly seems to have left Blackwood in a rather lighter mood than he - er, she? - is usually in.)

"Well done.

I'd suggest a drink, but I can understand if you'd not trust something from the bar just now."
