There's a man (boy?) dressed in mostly white, sitting in a dark corner. The top hat and monocle hide most of his face, but the frustration and irritation are evident on what can be seen of it

"Want some help with that?" comes a voice from a few tables down.

The top hat covered head looks up, and the one visible blue eye (his head seems to be angled just right for the glare reflecting off the monocle to hide the other) blinks.

"If you can do something about it, I wouldn't mind," he replies smoothly, a moment later, Poker Face back in place.

"I can do something," he says, standing up and walking over. "About the jacket and your arm. Which would you like dealt with first?"

"The jacket," he says without a moment's consideration. The arm's just a scratch; he's dealt with worse.

He nods and takes the jacket into his hands before shaking it out... and presenting it back to the young man without a spot in sight. It actually looks cleaner overall as well.

"And your arm?"

[mm_azy]

...Kaito's forgotten all about the arm.

He's trying to figure out the trick.

Then he might be surprised at the brief moment of stinging before the wound is gone.

"Hello in there?" he says, waving a hand in front of Kaito's face.

...And he's poking at his arm a bit. And then looking back.

"...How'd you do that?"

He can appear and disappear things. He can walk on air, and turn your hair bright green with a snap of his fingers.

But the arm thing?

Way cooler than any other trick he's ever seen.

"I wanted to," and it is an answer, even if it doesn't sound like one.

"How'd you do that?"

And he points to the arm before nodding to the jacket.

Kaito shrugs, and starts to answer, and then stops, tilting his head slightly. After a moment, he continues.

"Badguys taking potshots at me," he says. "I suppose this time they got a guy who could actualy aim." He grins. "Although not well enough."

"We'll thank the gods for that later, now, won't we?" he says with a smile. "What were you after?"

Kaito glances around, and... Well, no detectives in sight. He grins, and with a flourish, produces a flawless deep blue sapphire, easily the size of a man's eye.

"They call it the 'Spirit of the Deep,'" he says.

He looks at the blue sapphire with appreciation.

He likes blue.

No, of course I like you better.

"It's not actually holding a spirit, is it?"

Kaito shakes his head.

"No," he says, putting the gem back where he's been keeping it. "Not what I'm looking for, either." Which of course means he'll give it back at his most entertaining convenience.
