Gamepost / Sunnydale AU: The Monday after

Jan 27, 2010 15:39

Okay, say what you like about prom, but the clean-up committee did astounding work.

[ooc: The Sunnydale AU strikes again! This is the Monday after the demon prom. Or it isn't -- maybe it's just Monday at Sunnydale. Continuity is for suckers, obviously.]

Regulus is in the library, trying to see if there are any resources there that might be of help regarding the mysterious bar in his closet. (And Anne's football locker, apparently.)
He's not counting on it working out; the school has a truly pitiful collection, especially compared to his family's library. But one never knows, and it's worth a try, in any case.

"Nothing interesting." A girl in a soccer jersey plunks down beside him. "Hi." She sighs, shaking her head. "There's nothing good in this library no matter what you're looking for."

"It's certainly not as extensive as some."
Regulus smiles as she sits down. "How did your game go?"

"We won." Anne shrugs. "I swear word got out about prom and people went easy on her."

"Entirely possible, but are you really going to argue if that was the case?"
He might be taking her hand. Because, well.

She certainly doesn't mind him taking her hand. She squeezes his hand, and shrugs a bit. "Not really, but if we're going to go to State, we really need to not have people let us win."

"I'm sure they won't be so forgiving after the next apocalypse," he says, ever so mildly.
"I thought I'd see of there was anything here about bars showing up in one's closet. No luck so far, and I'm not really expecting to have any, but it was worth a try."

Anne snorts. "Yeah, you can only use apocolypse as an excuse for sucky gameplay a few times before people get tired of it."

She laughs, and shakes her head. "Well, from what someone told me after you left, it doesn't seem to be something from -anyone-'s world. It's not really explicable from anywhere."

"Still, you'd think someone might know why it's showing up in my closet and your football locker."
He's guessing it's the football locker, anyway. The academic lockers are a bit small for the average person to walk into, and even in Sunnydale, that would attract attention.

"You're too analytical sometimes, Regulus." Anne sighs and leans back in the chair. "You just have to accept that some things -are-, even though there's no explanation for them." It's how Anne gets by.

"I like to think I'm getting better at that." He did kiss her the other day, after all.
"But this is just a bit too odd to let go, really."

Anne puts on a Brisish accent for this one. "One would think, Mister Watcher that the weirder it is, the easier it would be to let go and blame the Hellmouth."

"...You have a terrible British accent."
He knows he's dodging the point, but he's smiling regardless.

"Of course I do. I haven't spent enough time around you yet." Is that a veiled something? Probably. "Besides, you're dodging the point."

"Actually, the stranger something is, the better it is to find out more before it tries to kill you."
He still thinks the bar is safe, at least compared to Sunnydale - but then, most places are safe compared to Sunnydale.

"True, I guess, but there's very little that a good fireball won't take care of." Anne shrugs. "There's a reason that was one of the first spells I memorized." Fact of life in Sunnydale.
