The old pirate has his walking stick out today. His joints are acting up something awful, and it's not easy to get around. Much as he hates to accept it, he's getting old. A young boy -- he looks about fifteen -- sits on the arm of a nearby chair with his own cup of tea and a biscuit, supplied by Bar. His tunic is scarlet and gold, richly made, and the sword at his side would fetch a pretty penny. Bright red hair a little long, he pushes a piece behind an ear and sighs at the fire.

Everything about him is serious.

Eventually he looks around, his distinctive (and unsettling) purple gaze lingering on the walking stick.

"What's that?"

"What's what, lad? My walking stick?" Never call it a cane - he's not THAT old.

Something about the lad seems a tiny bit familiar.

"Ah." Beat. "For walking."

Alanna studies it for another moment before turning her attention to Gibbs. Now she stares at the pirate, not blinking much.

"One can never be sure. I've seen many unfamiliar weapons about the place."

"Ahhh. You think I should be carrying a sword-cane? It's not at all an unfamiliar weapon to me, but I never fancied anything so...fancy." Especially when a sword itself isn't as easy to handle as it was.
