There are steps in the darkness and a strange light, faint, from one of the alleys...

Not Heartless, Roxas thinks, but goes to investigate anyway; there shouldn't be anything here except for the Heartless and the Nobodies.

Then there's the sound of forming Heartless, a startled shout, and what begins to be the sound of battle.

The glow increases.

Roxas kicks off running, and comes around the corner to see a boy, close to his own age, fighting off the Heartless.

"You're doing it wrong," he says calmly. A number of them turn their attention to him, drawn by the Keyblades in his hands.

Garion turns and looks at the---

The Grolim.

And every ounce of guilt he'd felt about Chamdar, every fear of his own power he might have... all of it goes out the window. Because somehow, they'd taken him away from Aunt Pol and Durnik and Ce'Nedra and Silk and Barak and Chamdar'd taken his parents and now whoever this was took everyone else.

Rage flushes through him and the answer isn't too much of an answer so much as a roar.

"BURN!" he snarls, holding his hand up, blue fire exploding and filling the alley.

It's a different kind of fire than Axel's, is Roxas' thought. He has just enough time to call up his shimmering barrier, closing off his section of the alley.

"That's better," he comments, as the blue flames consume the Heartless. "But you shouldn't waste something like that on Shadows."

"It wasn't for them! It was for you!"

He's angry, and moving.

"Break!" he shouts, smashing his sword into the barrier.

Roxas let the barrier drop a moment before the stranbger would have hit it, and dodged to the side with a blur of speed. He whirls midstride, and lashes the stranger across the back with Oblivion.

"If you want a fight..."

He's got no idea why he's being attacked, except perhaps that he's a Nobody. He can tell the stranger isn't; he can feel the heart.

It hurts, but he's felt worse. This boy was no boar.

"I want to go home!"

"I'm not stopping you," Roxas says. "What's your problem, kid?"

"You're a Grolim," he shouts angrily, rolling his shoulder even as he recovered his stance. "You cut people's hearts out and you took me away from everyone and I don't know what you want but I'm not giving it to you!"

Roxas tilts his head to the side. "What the hell are you talking about?" He relaxes back into an easy stance, ready for whatever may come.

"Are you slow?" he asks with the utmost disdain.

"No, but it sure seems like you are." A small group of Heartless came out of the shadows, and made their way towards Roxas. He sliuced through them with disdain; the stranger was more interesting.

He looks like he wants to facepalm even as he slices a few of the Heartless. He might not notice it, but there's a faint blue gleam to his sword at the moment.

It's much more effective this time.

"I'm not the one who doesn't know what he is. I know who I am. I just don't know where I am or why you took me. I'm just a boy from Sendaria."

Roxas notices, but he doesn't say anything just yet.

"I know exactly what I am," he says blandly. "And I know I haven't left this world for more than a month."
