Inyri's at a table in the back, a cup of caf beside her elbow as she reads a book the bar gave her.

"Reads."

It's in English, so she can't even decipher the title.

Botherable~

Jeran's watching her.

Except he's not really watching her. Not constantly, anyway. He's watching other people, too, as he drinks his lum and rubs idly at the cuts on his arms.

He just watches her more than he watches other people.

The book has really pretty writing, she decides as she squints at it, running her finger over the printed words.

She glances up, around the same time Jeran's looking at her again. Holds his gaze for a moment before looking back at the book.

Hmph.

That gets a grin, and Jeran looks away again as someone pretty walks past.

He takes a swig from his bottle, finishes it, and holds it up thoughtfully.

"I'm getting another round," he calls to Inyri with a sidelong look. "You want anything?"

"Why? You gonna put somethin' in it?" She asks, looking up at him again, eyebrows raised.

He mirrors her expression rather mockingly.

"Why, you want me to?"

"Yeah, a little poison, please." She pinches her fingers together and smiles sweetly.

He acknowledges this with a salute and heads for the Bar, empty bottle in hand.

He returns with two lums, one of which he holds out to Inyri with a mock sigh.

"She wouldn't give me poison. I asked."

He may or may not have actually done so.

She tilts the bottle back, and when she sets it down, she's smirking at him. "Pity. Could've gotten me out of the way."

"And gone for the comfort angle," he agrees, and pretends to contemplate this. "Think he'd have suspected?"

He's leaning back on her table now; he won't do anything as civil as actually sit down.

She takes the edge of her book and pushes against where he's leaning. She did not invite him there. >(

"I think you'd have to approach it slowly," She says as she pokes. "Make sure you don't come off as eager."

He takes the book from her, drops it on the floor, and kicks it off into the bar. Hope she wasn't reading that.

"I know how to play it," he says wryly, without looking at her. If he looks at her, he'll hit her for that. "You're not the only one who knows how to pretend."

She's staring at the book on the floor right up until the end, when her eyes snap to look at his back. "And what exactly am I pretending about?"

Her fingers flex, like she's debating to chunk her caf cup at the back of his head.

He laughs at that, because really, laughing is the only appropriate response.

He turns enough to glance at her and says, as he looks away, "What aren't you pretending about?"

How she feels about for Wes. But like she'd tell him that.

So she smirks and takes the little bin of sugars and starts to push against him again. "My hair colour."

This time, he slides off the table, turns around, and grabs her wrist. Might as well stop it at the source.

"Good to know," he says, looking at her hair but not quite at her. "Always preferred brunettes."

She holds her breath for a moment before trying to twist her hand out of his grip. "My mother says it'll darken up even more. She's got really dark hair."
