Except he's not really watching her. Not constantly, anyway. He's watching other people, too, as he drinks his lum and rubs idly at the cuts on his arms.
He just watches her more than he watches other people.
He takes the book from her, drops it on the floor, and kicks it off into the bar. Hope she wasn't reading that.
"I know how to play it," he says wryly, without looking at her. If he looks at her, he'll hit her for that. "You're not the only one who knows how to pretend."
She holds her breath for a moment before trying to twist her hand out of his grip. "My mother says it'll darken up even more. She's got really dark hair."

She glances up, around the same time Jeran's looking at her again. Holds his gaze for a moment before looking back at the book.

He takes a swig from his bottle, finishes it, and holds it up thoughtfully.
"I'm getting another round," he calls to Inyri with a sidelong look. "You want anything?"

He returns with two lums, one of which he holds out to Inyri with a mock sigh.
"She wouldn't give me poison. I asked."
He may or may not have actually done so.

He's leaning back on her table now; he won't do anything as civil as actually sit down.

"I think you'd have to approach it slowly," She says as she pokes. "Make sure you don't come off as eager."

"I know how to play it," he says wryly, without looking at her. If he looks at her, he'll hit her for that. "You're not the only one who knows how to pretend."

Her fingers flex, like she's debating to chunk her caf cup at the back of his head.

He turns enough to glance at her and says, as he looks away, "What aren't you pretending about?"

So she smirks and takes the little bin of sugars and starts to push against him again. "My hair colour."

"Good to know," he says, looking at her hair but not quite at her. "Always preferred brunettes."
