There's a little boy stalking about t he shadows, an unhappy, silent little boy who'd much rather be back on the island, where his mother is; but no thanks to ~things~ he's stuck here with the full knowledge that someday he could've grown up to live a nice, productive life as Island Dictator.

Little Benry is not amused.

It's the boy's presence that Anakin feels before he sees him; it makes him look over and stop, tilting his head curiously.

"Are you okay?"

Terriermon just peers over his head at Benry.

Li'lben stops in his tracks, staring at the other boy.

Anakin better get used to it. Ben is about as talkative as Locke was right after the Hatch asploded.

Anakin is content with quietness. Even if his best friend at home could talk for the entire galaxy.

"I guess not," he murmurs thoughtfully.

Terriermon, on the other hand -- well, if she and Tahiri ever met, no one else would get a word in edgewise.

"C'mon, kid, he asked a question," she puts in. "You gonna say anythin' or you just gonna stand there lookin' like a lost little baby Digimon?"

Ben lifts his eyes to stare at the Digimon and blinks, a bit confused.

"I get it, you just don't know how--"

"Shh," Anakin says, glancing up with a frown. He looks back at Ben. "Sorry. Are you new here? You don't have to talk if you don't want to."

Oh, Ben knows how. Give him a few more years and he'll talk the Digimon's ear off with lies.

But right now, all Ben does is nod.

"Okay." Anakin smiles a little. "Did General O'Neill explain the base to you yet? It's a little weird at first, but it's pretty fun here once you get used to it."

A mutter from above his head: "Boring when there's no one to fight, though."

Another nod, and another curious glance at the Digimon.

Terriermon takes this as her cue to talk again. "All the other Digimon here are good! And I got here too late to fight zombies, 'ccording to these guys."

Anakin rolls his eyes. "She got really hurt in a fight in her own world before she got here. I don't think she learnt from it at all."

HE SPEAKS

Anakin's smile fades a little. He nods.

"Zombies. I don't know how they got here, but they were everywhere for a few days. All the kids hid in the church, and some of the Digimon who were here then--"

"Lucky bastards."

"--Terriermon. Anyway, they helped to fight them. The place got pretty wrecked."

"They're all gone, now?"

"Yes."

Anakin can offer a more reassuring smile, now, while Terriermon mutters under her breath.

"They're all gone. See, they even fixed up the base." He waves a hand around. "Almost as good as new."
