Open the apartment door, step in, drop keys on the coffee table.

At least, that's what I'd planned.

I wasn't anywhere I wanted to be.

"Adam, I swear, if this is one of your jokes...."

So you know how everyone needs a mental health day sometimes?
College is being vaguely frustrating, and Mark's busy for too much of the day tp be of overmuch help, so Angel's taking matters into his own hands. And he wasn't expecting a... whatever the hell this place is, but there are interesting-looking people and it's not on Juilliard's campus, so it'll work.
He looks up when the girl comes in, but doesn't offer commentary, since he has no real idea what's going on either.

Not every day my apartment turns into...hell. I have no words to describe it.

I start looking around and, well, Angel is hard to miss. I've watched Connections often enough, and got to talk to him in Santa Fe.

"Angel?"

"...Have we met and I'm just not remembering it?"
College must be eating his brain, that's it. And there's a thing, Angel might look slightly younger than Ali's expecting...

"On set in--" And I stop speaking, noticing that he looks...young. Younger than she last saw him.

"This will probably sound weird, but what year is it for you?"

Hell, it's worth a shot.

"...1993. Why?"

"I'm from 1999. And we'd only spoken a couple of times..."

How much should I say?

"...huh. Can't say I was expecting anything like this, but it's an improvement over the college sort of headache."
In Ali's branch of the universe, Angel had already given up on college by 1993. She may or may not know that, but... well.

".....you're still in college?"

This isn't the Angel you're looking for.

Dammit. Note to self--kill Adam for playing that movie over and over again.

"I...don't think you're the one I know."

And I hope you don't think I'm insane but hell, what else should I say?

She's surprised that movie comes up so much around Mark's employees? Seriously.
"...What the hell, world, I wasn't expecting anything like this."
Angel grins. "Yeah. Coming up on the end of my first year."

"He--the one I know--dropped out before then. Didn't like the way it was stifling his creativity." And unless he asks more, I'm not mentioning that his counterpart is now dead. Hopefully he won't face the same thing.

"Hasn't gotten that bad yet, but I have to say, I'm starting to wonder."

"It was hard enough for me to get through and I wasn't feeling very ambitious. I was lucky to land the job I have."

Angel shrugs. "If I end up dropping out, I'll come up with something. What are you doing?"

"I'm a scriptwriter for Mark Cohen's production company. Sheer chance that he hired me, and god knows I wasn't going to turn it down, especially since he's good about paying living wages. He also doesn't mind the rest of us doing our own projects when we have time."

I have no idea whether or not he knows Mark at this point but what the hell.

At the mention of Mark, Angel beams.
"And he keeps saying he's just a geek with a camera, no matter how many people tell him he won't have any trouble doing what he loves."
There's more than a little fondness in that description.

I can't help laughing. "Oh, he's definitely more than that. Of course, he's still boggling that his documentary got labeled fiction by Hollywood and you won an Oscar for acting you didn't even do, if that makes any sense whatsoever."

Which it probably doesn't.
