Mayko Tran was not a happy woman right at this moment despite the fact that David had found a way to donate to her daughter -- their daughter -- the stem cells that she needed to fight the aplastic anemia that she's got. She'd have to send Lilith a thank-you card even if the girl would have no idea what it was for. The fact that David had brought up what they'd had in the past and accused her of being selfish when she'd been the one who had to deal with that uncommitted alcoholic tempermental asshole at the time. David, who ignored so many things in his life in favor of what might be better or what he wanted.

She'd stepped into a bar and ended up in the doorway of one -- there was nothing strange about that -- and so she headed to the bar to look for a tender.

"C'mon, I need a fucking drink," she muttered quietly, tapping her fingers against the table impatiently.
