It's dark out, it always is it seems, and wisps of steam make visibility even worse.

All in all, it's an excellent night for lurking on rooftops.

Also an excellent night for waiting for sources in dark, sketchy alleyways to ask questions about Intergang in what is clearly not a death-trap waiting to happen to the incautious.

"Love the trench coat," says a voice from the fire escape, "A real classic."

Cue the whirl-around-with-bravado-covering-startlement. After a moment, though, Lois smirks slightly.

"Good to know some kids these days still have taste," she drawls. She nods at the quiver. "Green, huh?"

So maybe this Lois once dated Green Arrow. And maybe he's married to her cousin now. She's curious.

"What can I say? It's the new black."

Lois can't help it--she snickers. (Truthfully, she's still not sure she's dealing with a cape and not some kind of Intergang assassin thing, but good humor goes a long way.)

"I can picture a couple faces I'd love to see you tell that to."

Well, mainly two.

"Well it's not Superman. Kryptonians have all the superpowers except color coordination."

Seriously. Even if Superboy does better.

"Lay it on me. Who is in such dire need of fashion advice?"

"You'd be surprised," Lois says dryly. "The Boy Scout's tried to be Cool before."

Not even his fiancee thinks Clark is precisely what one could call 'cool.'

"I didn't say anything about advice. I'd just want to be there, with a camera, to watch you say that in front of Superman and Batman. Preferably a video camera."

"...There's got to be an easier way to get Batman to have an expression," comes from Artemis finally, "Have you considered, I don't know, knock-knock jokes?"

"Since when has easy ever been fun?" Lois smirks, now relaxing a lot more--instinct tells her this kid's not evil in disguise, at least, which hopefully will pan out for her.

"Once or twice. I get tired of nearly drowning twice a week some months."

Lois actively considers this for a moment. "Okay, I'll give you that much on the drowning. So, what brings you to this particular alleyway?"

"You ever been stuck in a room with a bored speedster? I needed a break."

And then, trench coat.

The look Lois shoots her is full of deep, deep sympathy. "Gotcha. Well, want to do me a favor while you're here?"

"Not really, but shoot. I know how to say no."

"Hah, it's no biggie. Just... hang out in you peoples' magically-concealing shadows while I meet this guy? It'll be good ammo for me next round."

Artemis isn't Robin, let alone Batman, but the next words come from no really identifiable place. Certainly not the fire escape.

"What, these shadows? You've got until the Flaming C comes on."
