Or is it just the kid who's sniffed the air and peered up over the back of a couch to spy those cookies, the blonde one who looks like he's plotting the best way to sneak up and steal a couple.

Tiwa spots him and smiles, waving him over, "They're still sort of hot and not decorated yet."

The cookies are in Christmas and New Zealand shapes; trees, ferns, rugby balls, santa hats, a sort of star shape that will end up as a Pohutukawa flower.

"That's when they're good! They're warm and sweet and perfect for cold milk!" Tyler answers back, grinning, and hopping over the back of the couch with a binder clutched in one hand.

"Then clearly we need milk right away,"

His grin is infectious and she looks for a rat, her smiles not quite as bright but getting there.

"Oh definitely."

It's hard to turn down that bright a smile, especially as he's watching those cookie cool with all that puppy-eager determination while the rat comes back with a nice quart of cold 2%.

"I think that hat might be almost ready. It's also a little broken so it's best to eat it."

"Only the best survive to get decorated." Tyler agrees, making a grab for the santa hat...and the predictable 'oh oh hot hot hot' cookie juggling takes place.

Tiwa giggles and says, "I've found if you just grab and eat your fingers survive better."

[tyler_marlocke]

"Nrrmmmff ffur."

Tyler just lost that smart reply to a mouthful of warm sugar cookie and milk, but that's alright.

That just means the cookies are good, "That fern might be going soon,"

She grabs a clearly cracked rugby ball and eats it.

"Thank you."

It also means he's got the typical ten-yearold appettite. Tyler carefully this time, grabs up the fern and starts munching.

"You're welcome. I can always make more. During this season our house is full of cookies as my mum's a baker,"

And the smell of baking makes everything better.

"Your house sounds awesome."

[pi_wakawaka]

"Thank you, we try to make sure it's that way. We don't want the confused tourists to think they've missed the holidays just because there's no snow."
