He'd gotten the speech from a couple of the patrons since he fell in the door.
He knew he was at the end of the universe, that he was in a place between worlds, and that the fact that his back was unmarked and his insides weren't currently cooked meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. Certain things still held true, and the door wasn't going to open for him, at least not back to his own world.
Now he just had to figure out what to do about it. For someone who'd never known whether he should have been born in the first place, a second chance at life was almost more trouble than it was worth. Then again, he had to have been pulled here for some reason.
Glancing out at the lake, so small after the seas he'd sailed... he couldn't imagine for the life of him what it could be.
