"Which monkey?"

Rose has not seen a monkey recently, but this place is strange enough (and that is really saying something, given her life recently) that she would believe that she has missed it.

Of course, given that the man is bursting in from elsewhere, it is entirely possible that his search is intended to be elsewhere.

The man in questions eyes the girl asking with a doubtful look. "I don't think you'd know much about it," he decides.

After all, she doesn't give off the vibe of someone involved in an international smuggling operation.

"Funny how you decide that jut by looking at me," she comments.

As it happens, she is not involved with an international smuggling ring, and she never will be, as there are no longer any such thing as 'nations' where she comes from.

Not as such, anyway.

"Yeah. Hilarious." He even sounds like he's almost amused. Maybe.

Rose smiles, like it really is funny.

"Having said that though, I have not seen any monkeys - either literal or figurative - pass through here today, so I think it is safe to say that the one you are looking for is not, in fact here. You might as well sit down and order a drink."

"No monkey, huh." Oddly enough, he's not really surprised to hear that given his day so far.

"What's good here?"

"Anything. They have everything in the universe. Any universe."

[mm_anathomical]

"That doesn't necessarily mean it's all good." Because if they've got everything, well, that means they've got that mei fun he'd had in Nanjing.

[seeswitheyes]

"Yes, but you can order your favorite drink, and get it without a problem," she points out. "So whatever is good here, is whatever is good everywhere."

[mm_anathomical]

"Huh. And people actually buy that?" Because it's a pretty ridiculous line.

[seeswitheyes]

"You could always try. If I am lying, you will quickly find out. If I am not, however..."

[mm_anathomical]

"Then I'm crazy." Which isn't a very reassuring possibility.

[seeswitheyes]

"Most people deviate from the societally established norm. There is nothing wrong with that," she replies.

[mm_anathomical]

"There's 'deviating from the whatever', and there's crazy." And those are two different things.

[seeswitheyes]

"True. However, where one stands on that scale is rather subjective."

There are some who would say that she is crazy. They would be right, of course, but hers is a madness necessary for survival in her current situation.

"And where do you stand on it?" Eliot asks beginning to suspect the answer.
