The Drabble:
All of Jonouchi's teasing came back to him. "You can tell if a girl is hitting on you just by the look on her face. Her expression will tell you everything!" And even though Honda had insisted that Jonouchi couldn't possibly know what he was talking about, Yuugi found himself staring more closely at Anzu's face. He tried telling himself that she bent down like that because he was so much shorter, and maybe her eyes were half-lidded because she was squinting. These were probably true, but his imagination would have none of that, and he caught himself staring at more than just her face.
YGO ships!
This is going to be so painfully predictable, but you should still try it. Kind of fun.CAN: Anzu and Yuugi - peachshipping ( ... )

Oh Yuugi, you are such a perv! Don't worry, so's Anzu! Her dreams about two Yuugis say so! (Abridged Series episode 9 LOL)
Yuugi and Anzu are so wonderful when they can get away with their genderfrakking. Incidentally, this probably contributes to why I loathe 5D's as much as I do; they hammer down on gender role conformity so hard, it...it just isn't funny.
As for why Mai is pronounced one way but spelled the other, I really can't say. I do know that 'Mai' is like, mandarin chinese for sunny or cheerful or something like that, so there's definitely an element of irony there.

Ohh? Does this have to do with the witch-lady whose name starts with an "A"? Uber fail in remembering names. I tried watching it, but probably fortunately, I kept missing episodes, and I couldn't stand those horribly accented dubs.
Ah, but spell it as "Mei" and pronounce it as "Mei" and it could mean "beautiful." But the "Mei" is pronounced "Mai," and yours reason sounds better anyway, so let's go with that! xD

Aki Izayoi, rendered in the inimitable 4Kids dub as Akiza Izinski; because who needs actual Japanese names when you can make up some pseudo-Russian gibberish? But anyway, it's just...when she was first introduced she was this dark and intense figure who looked like she was going to shake things up, but now...now she's literally going over to Yusei's to ask for help on her physics homework, and getting huffy that he's spending time with his new boyfriend. (Seriously, they really have abandoned all subtlety at this point. It's kind of relieving actually.)

Actually, one of the few 5D's episodes I saw was her introduction. She did seem pretty badass. ...Now you've made me curious. She seemed so distant and badass, and now she's Tinkerbell? Should I look into it, or will I want to stab myself should I try?

I really would recommend against watching it; even without the offensive subtext, 5D's is just standard issue shonen schlock that refuses to take risks. Unlike a certain other series whose ending left us all in tears. ;_;

It sounds like I'd want to cry while watching 5D's too, but for a completely different reason. :D
But hell, I'm still curious. Maybe...just one episode? Specifically, the one when Aki turns from Anthy to Tinkerbell? Which one is that?
xD Am I asking for more than I can chew?

If you must, watch episode 75; it is the absolute pinacle of not only the inane absurdity of 5D's, but also of Aki Izayoi's Character Degradation. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

But you should form your own opinion on the episode if you're going to watch it.

Well, I can't really say anything other than I couldn't get used to Aki or Jack or even Yuusei smiling. That's what I get for skipping about thirty episodes, I guess.
I see what you mean, though. Aki doesn't have that...spunk she had when I first saw her. I can't really say anything though, can I? I don't watch this, but I do miss her witchiness.
And no subtlety. "I guess it's a date, huh?"

Can I get some input as to how she went from point A (her personality when she first showed up) to point B (who she is at episode 75)?

Although this did give me some lols.
It is a pathetic conglomeration of every wangsty cliche you could imagine; seriously, at one point I say to myself "Well at least he didn't hit her *SMACK!*...never mind." I mean, it would have been as though Azula's complex issues and breakdown were reduced to...I don't know, her mom not baking her a birthday cake for her seventh birthday, it's that bad.
I'm probably amused only because I wasn't the one who watched it. x|
But not Yusei, Jack, or Crow; because they may not have had formal educations like Aki did, they have penises, and that's far more important then any book learning. Seriously, that's the only way that makes any goddamn sense.
UGH PENIS TRUMPS. THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD NOW. WHY OH WHY.
Okay, now episode 75 makes more sense. Oh, by the way, these were mostly my thoughts during the episode:
"...not like DM or GX at all. Why are the streets deserted all the time? Does no one else exist? ...Like this was made ( ... )
