Love means never having to say you're sorry. - Oliver Barrett, Love Story

So, my mom? Big fan of the romantics. Kind of went overboard when my sisters and I were just kids and exposed us to all the classics. I have to say, I think her favorite was Love Story, but I never really got the point. Sure, it has the usual Boy meets Girl story line right along with that upper class versus lower class distinction, but it's not really all that romantic. After all, Jenny gets sick and Oliver ends up having an affair with this other woman which ends up with him getting the other girl knocked up and not his wife. Jenny all throughout the movie keeps talking about how "Love means never having to say you're sorry," but it really seems like she should get a lot more than an apology.

I'm not sure I get it as much as I should, because the movie still makes mom swoon and shed tears, but I do get what it's like to love someone so much that you'll forgive them anything and everything. I guess it's just a little more tragic than romantic to me.

Maybe I just get it too much.
