Summer Fun at NTV
Over the summer, most of the TV studios will hold summer fairs to promote their current shows. Given the upcoming Kaibutsukun movie, NTV did a lot of Kai-kun related things. I am a pretty big Ohno fan, but make it no secret that I don't really like his role as Kaibutsukun. I prefer a more adult, human Ohno. But, being a huge Ohno fan, I had to check it out!
The first thing you notice as you head to the studio is the giant, inflatable Kaibutsukun slide. When I first heard about it, I was not so excited because I figured the slide would be based on the cartoon character. But, the slide was actually designed around Ohno! I took way too many pictures of it!
Sadly, the actual use of the slide was limited to kids. There were a few older woman who went down the slide, but with their kids. I was a bit sad that I wasn't able to try the slide, but, then I realized that if anyone could use it the line would be crazy long with older fangirls and no kids would even get a chance to use it. So, probably a smart move on NTVs part.
In additional to the slide, they were also selling a Kaibutsukun curry. I had read reports that the curry kept selling out quickly, so I made sure to go a bit early. You couldn't just buy it straight out though. I was given a ticket with a number and asked to come about about an hour later.
Luckily there were plenty of other things to do during my wait for the curry. There was a booth setup that has a large replica of the dragon featured in the movie. Sadly, you couldn't take pictures in the booth thing. There was also a booth featuring Arashi ni Shiyagare. But, the line to get in was like, 2 hours, and apparently all you could do inside was take a picture again a backdrop of the guys. I decided to take a pass on that.
NTV was also promoting 24Hour TV during the fair. 24Hour TV will be hosted by Kanjani 8 this year. I look forward to seeing their performance!
Eventually I went back to the curry stall and picked up my curry bento. It was really cute! They made a Kai-kun head out of baloney and made his hat out of cheese. It was petty good curry too and came with a piece of hamburg and some pickled vegetables..
Over all NTV gets an A+ from me for it's summer fair this year! I'll try to check out what's happening at all the other studios as well!
