So AP English was brutal, but somewhat bareable. My essay was actually sort of decent.
I'm not saying I did well on it, but better than horrible, I think.
And apparently McCormick's retiring?
So apparently I don't have her for computers?
I'm really hoping I get some rookie that I can just torment the shit out of.
Or at least get away with not doing anything.
What I'm trying to figure out is why people make fun of bands like Fall Out Boy, but listen to bands like Coheed and Cambria.
I don't care if they write the best fucking songs ever, Claudio (or whatever the fuck the lead singer's name is) sounds like the dude from Rush.
And to my knowledge, he's not Canadian, so he has no excuse.
Now, in all fairness, I've never listened to a complete song of theirs.
It's because I can't sit through over eight minutes of that guy's voice.
I think it's arrogant of almost any band to think they can old their audience's attention for over 5 or 6 minutes. There are maybe like, 5 bands that can get away with that. (And Brand New).
And it's not because I'm George Howard's biggest fan, (besides Ingle) but I really think that his theory was totally legitimate.
He did A&R for what I think was his personal label (Rykodisc? Yeah. Frank Zappa was on it or something...), and he said every time he got a demo that he actually wanted to listen to, he'd give the first song 15 seconds.
If he liked it, he'd keep listening. If not, then you're done.
I like that.
Sing after 30 seconds.
Say what you have to say within five minutes (preferably 3 minutes and thirty seconds) or don't say it.
Those are my guidelines.
Not that anyone cares.
The moral of my story is that more likely than not, Prog Rock sucks.
I remember those real cool guys behind us the first day at Berklee from Poughkeepsie. They were all in the band, and the drummer thought I would like prog rock cause I was a drummer, and he liked prog rock.
You know what song every band should do a cover of?
Let The Good Times Roll.
Yeah.
What the fuck did I get myself into?
