Making of a Waldorf Doll

Nov 19, 2007 10:26

Off and one for the last couple of weeks (after I posted for ideas for a
gift to Belle from baby sister), I've been reading and practicing forming
heads for Waldorf dolls. I'd been trying to work on it, you know, AWAY from
Belle, but I rarely get such a chance and she's seen what I've been doing.
Well, I gave it up for sure last night as I worked on the doll while she was
taking a bath. It's almost done and I'm working to attach the head to the
body.

"Mom, is that my doll?"

"Why do you ask?"

Because.... I like it. It's cute (or something like that)

Well, I don't know - I'm just trying to make a doll

Is it for my baby sister?

Maybe, why? Should I make her one?

Yes, but that makes me sad mom

Because I want a doll like that, too.

Doll completed expect for hair. Not too bad for a first timer, I don't think. No pictures tonight. Sorry. Maybe after I get the hair on which I've got to get more thread for.

Complaints: There's a few "runs" in my fabric. I gave the doll stitches. LOL. Her head turns slightly to the right (her left) - gives her personality. I'll probably do the body a little different in how I attach everything - maybe try the other "head" recipe errrr instructions?.

The fabric, once stretched over the head is REALLY thin and you can see under it. I don't like that. I'll do the nose different.

But it is my first ever doll solo. Belle scooped her up when i was done and tried to claim it. She got sad when I started working on it again. LOL. I think she wants it... what about you guys? LOL Clothes. I don't even know where to begin with that.
