If there is one thing that Arthur loves and wouldn't give up on for anything in the world, it is his privacy. Even as a college student, he insisted that he had his own room, even if some of his friends would crash in his bed or on his floor; sadly, he didn't have a say in this, and even if he did, sometimes he was too drunk to care. Besides, with

Alfred got along with his previous roommate, Kiku, quite well. But the mere fact that he nearly flunked his astronomy class (apparently playing those video games that Kiku brought back from his homeland didn't count as studying) was enough for the blue-eyed boy to profusely apologize to his quiet friend, who of course, understood.
As Alfred waits at the door, his thoughts lingered to the one time his future roommate (Arthur Kirkland... had somewhat of a weird accent) and he talked on the phone. Perhaps his over enthusiasm scared the other, because he certainly didn't get a call again and was always contacted through email.
"Play it cool, Alfred. Play it cool. Just be quiet like Mattie," he mutters to himself.

And not punctual.
With another sigh, Arthur gets up from his seat and makes his way to the door to open it, scowl evident on his face. "You're late," he mutters, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

He feels a wave of shock when a pair of furrowed (and thick, he notes) eyebrows with startling green eyes to accompany them greet the boy. Standing several centimeters shorter, Alfred isn't entirely sure why the physical appearance of his new roommate threw him off, but he feels his heart skip a beat, not realizing that he was... attractive.
He must bring home a lot of girls, with those looks, he decides, taking no notice of the clearly obvious scowl.
Alfred beams and holds his hand out. "Hi, I'm your new roommate, Alfred F. Jones, though I think you could figure that out from my bags and uh. Yeah." He gestures to the two large suitcases behind him and peeks into the room behind Arthur.

"I'm Arthur Kirkland," he says, taking the other's hand in his and shaking it. He's not pleased about the fact that Alfred chose to ignore his previous comment, though. He gives the young man a long look and internally scowls again. 'I hope he isn't going to fill my house with his fangirls, this brat.'

"So... wanna show me around the place?" he asks. "Oh! But I'll put my bags away in my room first... wait. I should probably find out about the place first. Oh, damn. I mean, uh. Do you care if I swear? I only do when I'm playing video games and-" He's already blabbering, and Alfred could sense the disinterest from the other rising. With this in mind, he shuts up by coughing into the crook of his arm.
"Um. How about you just show me around?" he asks, embarrassed.

New semester, new roommate, might as well pick up some good habits, I guess, he tells himself.
"Nice place," he observes. He sees a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and two rooms, one door closed. "I'm guessing the open door's mine?"

He pauses, realizing that the other hardly said a word. Looking away, red tinting his face, he says "Sorry. I mean, wait. Sorry for apologizing a lot. Well, I just did again, but I'll stop. I'll settle down first and maybe we can just talk and chill or something?"

Make that a scotch. He is going to need it.

After unpacking his things (more like throwing all objects into the unused drawer and closet for sifting at last minute) and making his bed, Alfred walks to the kitchen and grins.
"That is definitely not tea," he says, pointing to the bottle that seemed far too conveniently close to Arthur. "You sly dog."

"...Do you want some?"

He looks curiously at his roommate, getting a better look. Flaxen-colored hair with dark, prominent eyebrows. Startling green eyes that look ready to kill and a scowl that seems far too permanent. Yet, this all seems incredibly... flattering on the other.
Impressive.
"Well, if you're uncomfortable with talking," he starts, "you could at least tell me what you don't like, Arthur. I can call you Arthur, right?" He smiles, giving the other a thumbs up.

"Yes, Arthur is fine... Alfred. And you don't have to worry about a lot of things, just...," the young man trails off, not really sure of what the other wants to hear. "Uh, I can only think of respecting privacy for now, but I guess that was already implied."

He clears his throat. "So, uh. ... what do you say we lay some rules down then? Not that I really have many, just really generic stuff, you know?"
This is so awkward, he thinks wildly. The atmosphere feel terrifying and dreadful. No, Alfie. You're gonna get through this. You need this for the sake of studying!

"Alright, then. What did you have in mind?" It's great that the young man has such a forward attitude, though. It brings a small smile to Arthur's lips and he hides it with a sip of his tea.
