In One Hundred Years Of Solitude (written by Gabriel García Márquez, fascinating man, really), the characters have a thing for using the same names for their children. For example, the name Aureliano meant that the man was quiet, calm... a thinker, while Arcadio described the opposite.
This was one of the details that made me enjoy this book. Right from the beginning, I could tell how each character would evolve throughout the book based on his or her name, but I was always taken by surprise. And I loved the fact that I never knew what was real and what not. This author managed to slip magic into his text, but he did it in a way that didn't seem unusual at all. I was surprised because of it, but for the wrong reasons.
It is a great book, but you have to look for its message. Really look.
