Summer and Fall 2012

Oct 28, 2012 19:53

I haven't written anything here in a while so here's what I've been up to.

1. Summer 2012 - Stage Manager Job

I worked for Unexpected Stage Company for a second summer, but this time I was Stage Manager and Light Board Operator. It was a huge responsibility and it was the first time that I had ever done something like this but it was a wonderful experience. There was one downside though: I cut my hand on a glass jar and had to get nine stitches, five internal, four external. That shit hurt and I was pissed off that I couldn't get my hand wet for three days (showering with one hand is a bitch). However the cast was so full of wonderful people and I miss them all. I hope that they will continue to get work and be flawless.

2. Fall 2012 - Back In School

Here's my fall schedule:

Cultural Diversity in American Theatre - So far we've read plays about race, gender (kind of), and sexuality. We'll be reading a play about religion soon.
Acting The Language of the Poetic Imagination - This is my favorite class. We're basically learning how to speak Shakespeare and it's so fucking wonderful.  I always feel intimidated because I'm the only non-acting major, but my professor says that I speak the language beautifully so that gives me courage. I just have to keep working on my physicality when performing.
Theatre History II - My least favorite Theatre History Class (I was awesome because my professor was amazing and III was okay because the plays were great buy my professor can't teach). I love my classmates though.
Stage Management - My professor is seriously cool and it makes the lectures easier to get through. A HUGE part of this class is hands on though, as the big assignment of the semester is Stage Managing an on campus or off campus show.

Which leads me to the next thing I've been doing

3. Stage Managing A Show

The play is written/directed by a grad student at my university and it's a really interesting work. I can't wait until the performances start.

4. My Birthday

My Birthday and My Parent's Anniversary was on October 19th, so they came out to have dinner with me and one of my friends. Then, two of my friends came back to my apartment and we played Dream Phone with is like one of my favorite games from my childhood. HAVE A CHEESY 90S COMMERCIAL.

And then one of my friends stayed the night and we watched Asian music videos until 3am and then we went to sleep. I had fun!
