Idea for citizen disobedience
Climate Change, PeakOil, Seas dying, blah blah...
-> We all shall have trouble with getting enough of diverse food.
Small solution in anarchistic action disregarding all the official rules:
Illegal Shrubberyplanting!
Blackberry is a good candidate as it is very nutritious, makes lots of berries, spreads fast and is hard to remove. On con side, it has thorns. Other nutritious berries that thrive in local parks and roadside forests should be considered as well.
One should order (or know a farmer whom to aquire) 100 or so sprouts and some soil. Then advertise to activist and in appointed time and place share each few sprouts, bag of soil and instructions regarding where the shrubs will thrive and how to plant and take care of them.
On the next morning the city would be one step better prepared for the times to come. This would personally also benefit the planters s each person would know location of few plants, and friends would know some more, no-one would know of them. And if worst come worst, I do not think the police views shrubberyplanting as a very serious crime :)
To organise such event one needs
-a car
-enough cash to buy the soil and sprouts (if they cannot be aquired free, that's easy if one has a garden with suitable plants).
-connections to get enough volunteers trough word of mouth.
One such night would be great. Few of them would make your life and your city way more safe during hard times.
