Term that has frustrated me recently:
Extreme right wing, and its often right associations.
Current form of massive immigration to Europe from countries with long cultural distance causes long term troubles. Integration doesn't go as smoothly as it is supposed and has previously succeeded with countries of more modern society. And national concern is a valid and often benevolent perspective. The primary claim of nationalism "Every nation/ethnicity has right to govern over themselves" is a very healthy ground to build upon. I would immediately give independence or autonomy to Kurds, Basks, Vlaams, several groups of people with common long history currently under Russia, and even to Samis if they were ever to ask for it.
But bringing out these views groups me automatically with several kind of ill stereotypes, which sadly do have some base.
Where is political party that has courage to discuss about these issues openly, without need to accept in the same package any of
strong siding regarding religion, often for christianity
close minded approach on sexual and gender minorities
conservative stand on phenomena of society
strong political viewpoint shadowing from history (fanatical anti-communism most often)
I am very liberal, social-democrat (I love Finnish education system, health care and social security, and for strong taxation, but still allowing free trade), and green. For democracy naturally (though Finlands current vote counting system could be changed to favor less big parties). Term right wing doesn't describe me at all. But at the same time I do value cultural differences and their multitude, I recognize that our western cultures have value an sich, and they do require preservance and protection in same sense as every other. I don't bathe in self-guilt regarding deeds of our ancestors, and I stand against lowly-educated mass immigration from countries with huge cultural distance, which often leads to segration and at worst, scenes like in Paris or in Malmö where exists areas where normal sociaty is too afraid to act. These are huge problems that cannot be swooshed under the carpet with pretty rhetorics, and very timely questiesn in Finland where such massive immigration hasn't taken place yet and its problems could be prevented if acted now. These viewpoints labels me extreme, and right-wing. And just for clarification to those who might jump to sudden conclusions, being anti-current-immigration does not mean I have something against people as they are, whichever their background spring from, I totally accept all work and love related movement, as long as its done by rules meant for them. When immigration as it happens nowdays is examined in statistical scale instead of individual, trends and their effects can be seen, and on that scale, malevolent trends needs to be prevented.
It is true that only political parties that talk about these issues are labeled radical, racist, bigot, violent and scary. Mainly this view is caused by proven smear campaigns but partly of the impression is true. There are conservative whackos included. But there are also well-meaning intelligent liberal people who feel strongly for these issues pressing western societies but can't find home among any other parties because of their fear of political correctness. Immigration needs open debate, free from slurs, ad-hominems, straw mens, based on statistical and science facts, instead of theories that are proven not working (contact hypothesis comes firstly in my mind). This discussion would not a pleasant one to those who have blindly swallowed everything from multicultural rhetorics, as if approached openly, one might come to conclusion that one has been wrong to some degree.
But that's all from this subject from now, just don't call me extreme or right wing, though some of my stands might be politically incorrect.
Other thing that has bugged me much recently about our societies is lack of sustainability, longevity and thinking in long term.
Specially regarding building infrastructure and consumer products. Our new houses are buildt to last 10-20 years. That is ridiculously low. They say better is too expensive. We are supposed to live at most wealthy times, and we cannot build things of true value. I see that every single piece of infrastructure should be planned to stay working (with reasonable upkeep) at least 50, preferably minimum 200-300 years. Railroads, plumbing, electric network, roads, trucks, ships, furniture, cars... With all our knowledge it should be possible, certainly it would be more expensive and business wise less profitable to build anything that last, but poor cannot buy cheap. At our current consumption rate worlds raw metal resources are used in ~60 years, we are poor regarding resources. We have to start building things that last for generations. On everyday items, my eyes look shamingly to clothing. They aren't made to be repairable and lasting. Fashion of the future is Military. I'm not encouraging anyone to recruit, but I suggest you to buy cheaply awailable military clothing purely for it's practical value. They are made to last. You'll need shoes, trousers, shirts and jackets that will last on you YEARS, even decade with good care. Jeans nowdays have greatly reduced in longevity, only few companies test them anymore. There are more troubled times ahead, when one cannot afford new clothing every year. I admit being faulty on this sin, having much shopped cheaply on import stores.
I won't even start about effiency regarding energy consuption and fossil fuels.
But descending from serious issues, my life is doing good.
I'm studying last year of my degree in 3d-graphics and animation and weighting between few options regarding my thesis.
After graduation we probably will move abroad for a while, German is a language I want to relearn.
Monetary situation is short as always, but it doesn't prevent happiness. Friends and family are not weighted in gold.
Spiritually and mentally I'm stable, and keeping up with my responsibilities. Without forgetting the fun.
I wish you most pleasant, beneficial and graceful rest of the year. Take care of your vicinity.
