Sacred Ibis

May 03, 2012 11:47

I saw sacred ibis in Keren (in the mountains) and also in Massawa, on the Red Sea coast. On the coast they seemed to be acting like waders on the shore, which from what I can gather is typical - their diet is supposed to be small fish, amphibians, insects, snails etc. In Keren, there wasn't any water in sight and they seemed to be eating the hotel's rubbish, but probably it was insects that were themselves eating the rubbish that they were after. All these photos are from Keren.
