CHM Follies
So last night was the College of Human Medicine Follies Dinner Dance. For the most part it wasn't too bad. The food was alright, and the entertainment was hilarious. People made fun of some of our professors, and so that was highly amusing. They did a Follywood Idol thing where Randy, Paula, and Simon made fun of our professors' teaching techniques.
Then after the show, the dancing commenced. The music really was awful until near the end, but I forced myself to dance and have a good time. I am sore this morning, so I think I did dance quite a bit. We went from about 9:45 until 12:30 -- I like dancing. It would have been nice to have some actually danceable music, but I worked with what I had.
Now ME's going to complain a bit, so feel free to skip through this part. The worst part about the dance was it was seriously a couple's thing. Everyone was there with their husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, whatever. I tried not to dwell on it, but it was hard not to. I came with Ray and Becca because they asked me to be their DD. Ray picked out a table, and we sat our stuff down and went out to mingle. When we all had to go sit down, no one else had sat at out table. We had the entire dinner just the three of us -- that was the theme for the whole night I think. And it wasn't that I was tagging along with them even though people probably thought it was. I would go talk to some 2nd years who I was friends with or go dance with them, and then Ray and Becca would show up nearby dancing with each other. They would tell me to come dance with them, and then they would go back to dancing together... talk about awkward. Anyway, I tried to keep my mind off it and just keep dancing, and I think for the most part I succeeded. I know I'm still young and have my whole life left and shouldn't be worried, and yada yada yada, but you try it sometime. It's not as easy as you say. Ok, I think I'm done complaining.
