Reading and Procastination

Doesn't sound quite as good as 'truth and reconciliation' does it...? well, hmph. Yeh, finished the Harry Potter book. Meh. Great writing all the way up to the end - the climax was really rushed (and kind of.. lamely carried out), and then the denouement was bordering on too long. I still think it is a good book, but I've got my complaints. It ( Read more... )

mmph. wasn't sure she'd actually go through with it, but it didn't surprise me. I dunno. there was a marked change in writing style, almost mid-paragraph, when the climax began, and at that point, the book took a sharp downhill turn from a literary perspective. Plot-wise, the ending was not bad. However, her writing began sucking, and continued to do so up to about the last page.

Yeah, I hear that. Up to that point, it was like, "ohmigod" especially when Snape does the deed, but after that, I didn't feel myself wanting to kill Snape beyond the obvious shock of his death. And it WAS rushed, you're right. If I'd been writing it, I would have continued to have Harry follow Snape. I mean, really. Harry's almost-father gets killed right in front of his eyes, and Harry gives up when he sees Hagrid? Yeah, right. She captured the feeling of the funeral pretty damn well though. But why'd he break up with Ginny? Where'd THAT come from? (Yeah I know why, but it was altogether too rushed, I agree)

actually, I didn't really care about Snape or dumby, but it was kinda lame that he gave up upon seeing hagrid. I really thought that the funeral sucked... not... I dunno... not good enough. and yeah, what in the fuck was up with his breakign up with Ginny... especially when his friends end up accompanying him anyway?... meh
