I have to type this so I don't go off and complain to other teachers. We had a student teacher in our building, and I love her! She did a great job, and will make an excellent teacher. She just graduated college last week (I think) and is now subbing in our building. A true teacher cares about the students and has a passion for teaching. They don't call school "work". They don't do it because it is easy... because any true teacher knows that teaching is far from easy. She is definitely all of that. She reminds me a lot of me actually. I mean, she gets EXCITED to come to work everyday! lol
Here is the thing I can't go venting about... I took this crappy paying job (although I love it) to get my foot in the door at this district. I turned down a secnd grade position... that paid twice as much... to work in Troy. I have busted my butt to prove that I am a proficient teacher, meaning I do all the duties of a 'regular' teacher with the pay of an aid. I have made contact upon contact with principals of elementary schools in the district.
Ready for the fun part?
I hear this former student teacher talking about all the 'ins' she has in the district and that she has been offered this 5th grade job in one of the elementary schools... blah blah. WELL, I am sure that will not be the only opening for the district but I will not be happy (and Mr. Superintendent will know it) if she gets a job before I get one. I have put in twice the effort, twice the time, and have proven myself many more times than she has. Like I said, she will be an awesome teacher, but bottom line is that I have put in my (excuse my language) shit-hole time (sorry sorry sorry) and she has not. I have more experience and am more qualified.
Ok that is all... sorry for the rant all.
Cheers!
