"Bandai Entertainment announced using the OMG website & the
Nagi-sama Fanclub that they have indeed licensed Kannagi for American release. Not only was it announced as licensed today, but the first half of the series actually went on sale today. As in, it's out right now. Amazon & Right Stuf are shipping the DVD half season set as we speak, & presumably Bandai will have it on hand at their Otakon booth this weekend. To announce & release a title on the same day, that's insanely fast & awesomely cool.
You wont have to wait long for the second half of the series either, which is due out on September 24. Plus if you pre-order the second half now, you'll get a free t-shirt! Unfortunately as has been common for Bandai as of late, the series will be subbed-only & without an English dub. But considering how otaku-oriented Kannagi is, it's the only thing that financially makes sense for them.
Not only did the DVDs start coming out today, but ANN will be streaming the series for free too. Another exclusive for them, just like Eureka 7. The first two episodes are up now, with 3-4 coming up next week & 5-6 the week after. Episodes 7-8 will then stream a week before the second DVD comes out in September, & two new episodes will stream every week after that until they finish the series.
Visitors to the Nagi-sama Fanclub & sign up for a free Kanagi membership card to print out. Which is neat since the Japanese version of the Fanclub offered a very limited amount of cards, which sold for tons of money for those who wanted it. The English Fanclub also scored an interview with Kannagi's director Yutaka Yamamoto."
