I went to the Met with my parents. I hadn't been there in a while, and they had just redone the African art wing, one of my favorites. I love what they did with it, I took a few pictures with my cel phone.
This is....amazing. A ceremonial roof made from bark. It's like a huge mosaic, every piece is colorful and different. It's so majestic and overwhelming. Just standing underneath it and looking straight up makes you get lost in it.
These guys are so funny. Despite the fact that they're tall and almost imposing, I got this friendly, happy vibe from them. Almost like they watch over everything to protect it.
This thing is awesome. It's sort of like the Chinese dragons that have several people underneath to move them, used in ceremonies. They're held up by bamboo poles and typically destroyed after they are used.
And, a Zoey picture from yesterday for good measure. :) Post-operation, sleeping and content to be home.
I wanna go back to the museum with my camera and take some nice pictures, and do some sketches. This stuff was amazing. I love tribal art so much. It's so expressive and it makes me happy.
