Into the groove

Day one of 9 straight shifts complete.

Man, I'm going to be pasty white by the time this is done. How is that even possible in Hawaii? That's just not right.

I'm glad to report I've been working with Craig lately on writing advertising copy. He's really been impressed with my writing, as evidenced by my blogs recently on myspace and facebook. Hmm... maybe they're not useless, afterall.

This will amount to some extra cash. Which I could really use right about now.

Speaking of cash, I talked to Jeff Davisson while he was in Germany the other day. He mentioned that NJVC sent out a letter to all site reps that we could switch over to become NJVC employees and continue our same positions - with a probable salary increase. This might be worth looking into.

Enjoyed these last few days off, taking care of errands and other stuff. For example, I went over to Ozzi's place the other afternoon to do a parkour conditioning workout - since he sprained his ankle again, he's trying to remain conditioned while not putting much weight on his ankle.

So we did bear crawls up and down his long driveway (backwards and forwards), climbing the underside of his stairs like monkey bars (really put the hurt on the forearms), and dips on a rock wall. It's interesting how uneven surfaces really cause your muscles to work in ways they never have before.

On the way home, I stopped at the vet for cat food, and then when I got back into the car, found my battery had finally died. Since I have a stick shift, I was able to push the car and pop it to get it started - no small feat after TWO workouts that day!

Grabbed Kat's truck, hit the store, and then Wal-Mart for a new battery, which I installed as soon as I got home. It was dark, so I had to open up the garage and turn on the light so I could see.

Then a baby bird flew into the garage and hung out by the light. I couldn't shoo it out, so I had to call upon world renowed ornithologist, Kat Goldberg. Within 5 seconds, the bird was free.

...

I think I've come down with a slight cold lately. I'm not coughing or anything, I've just been feeling a bit run down - lack of energy and enthusiasm for physical activity. Maybe I've been overtraining a bit. So I decided to tone it down a bit this week - going only 3 times.

Yesterday's was a fun workout.

50 Medicine Ball Cleans @ 20#
50 Jumping Lunges
35 Dips
35 Knees to Elbows
20 Handstand pushups
20 Deadlifts @ 225#

My time: 22:45 - fairly par. I could have probably saved a minute from all the rest breaks I took while doing the Deadlifts and Knees to Elbows, but again, I just haven't felt strong enough to really push myself to the limit this week. Oh well. Next week will be better.
