Hm. I think two and a half teaspoons of baking powder sounds excessive, especially when I tend to leave it out of most cookie recipes and get better results.

See, I find that the extra leavener makes the cookies better. One of my recipe trademarks, actually. Ah well, to each, to each.

I'm positive that it has everything to do with altitude, actually.

A higher air pressure and humidity always tends to make flour denser by volume- I'm in a comparatively humid clime and at a very high altitude so my cookies bake up puffy even without leavener. One of those mysterious tricks of the universe.

That does make sense. I've been in relatively dry places, and lower lattitude and altitude than you. So.

Which is funny, because I'm in a humid clime at a low altitude, and without the baking powder, my cookies come out very flat and very hard.

Aaah, altitude.
