God's Flist.

ilikeboytouching: So--again, you're the lucky available one--as far as I can see, it's not only the start of the new year, but a time for repentance?  But it's not only that, seems like, it's also much like the secular new year in the sense that it's a time to look forward to and hope for the future.  Right?  *babble*  ...Don't mind me.  It's easier for me to understand things if I parrot them.

Mithrigil: Sure. I'll explain.
Mithrigil: The metaphysical concept of the new year is that God is going through a friends cut.

ilikeboytouching: *laughs*  That is an amazing and effective metaphor.
Mithrigil: I thought you might like it.

Mithrigil: So tomorrow night, there's basically a warning that within the next ten days or so he's going to re-evaluate his priorities.

ilikeboytouching: Hence, the emphasis on repentance?

Mithrigil: Rosh Hashana is the first two of these days. We basically show God what a great community this is.

Mithrigil: Then there's a week in between while he reorganises his bookmarks and reads some webcomics.

Mithrigil: And THEN there's yom kippur, which is the day of repentance and atonement.

ilikeboytouching: Okay.

Mithrigil: Basically, you forgive yourself and others for as much as you can--ideally, everything--so that you get written into the book of life aka. God's Flist.

ilikeboytouching: So let's see.  In effect, then.

ilikeboytouching: God announces purge.  People leave comments saying "ooh, keep me, keep me!".  God purges those who didn't leave comments.  People kept say 'thank you' for being kept.  Basically.  In LJ terms.

Mithrigil: Yes.

ilikeboytouching: Parrotting works.  I get it.

Mithrigil: Awesome.
