Superman #165 (Feb 2001), by Jeph Loeb, dealt with Superman's reaction to Lex Luthor being elected President of the United States. It's a Christmas issue, and in it he goes around talking to each member of the Justice League and asking for their advice and their opinions about what to do when you feel the democratic process has failed. By the way, you know what's significant about these two issues? Superman #168 and Detective Comics #756 are the ONLY crossover (storyline-wise, I mean) between the boys' own books!
Wow, that is really amazing, considering how often they appear in each others' titles, but you're right, it's never an actual Super-Bat crossover! I think we need another one, don't you? It's been nearly ten years now!
And yesss, that panel of them glaring at each other is so USTy! They're so close... but studiously NOT touching, lol.
I love the second part so much although the art is...pretty weird at times! But the story and the interactions are absolutely perfect...thanks again for pointing me to them, I really owe you a lot!
