Thank you! trascendenza has gotten me thinking about Rachel as a character...the movies don't give her a whole lot to work with, but there are possibilities there...

Rachel is a fascinating woman! She certainly could have gone away, but chose to stay in Gotham and fight the hopeless fight.

Yeah, she's got so much potential, and it's so sad to consider how Gotham does indeed use her in the end. :(

Her hand aches with the memory of its impact against Bruce Wayne's face. She curls a fist around the ghost of pain.
*sigh* That was so sad.

I liked Rachel Dawes character in Batman movies. And you described her so well! Great job!

I'm finally back from traveling! *hugs her computer* And mostly done with a very belated email to you! @_@

I'm really glad you liked this drabble, Rachel is so interesting and underused, but she's strong and fascinating. :)

And thanks for the message about the email (*very happy smile*).

I'm really glad to be mostly back (if still behind, lol!) But I got some writing done yesterday as well and am feeling happy. :)

She could follow them, let the wind take her out of the city, following a new path of her own.

She wouldn't be the first.

Oh, I love this -- Rachel having the opportunity to do something different, something probably a lot easier and safer, and her knowledge that so many others have done the same.

and turns her face toward Gotham once more.
Eeeee! This is the Rachel of my canon, who keeps coming back to Gotham again and again, even when it isn't the easiest or most logical choice.

This is so lovely, J, thank you so much :) *treasures*

Yay, I'm really glad to hear she matches your vision of Rachel, because that's definitely the inspiration for her! You have a real gift for seeing the potential in a character who wasn't given much beyond love interest and vengeance motivation in the canon, alas...

I love this line: She curls a fist around the ghost of pain. How very... Gotham of her :) I love the theme -the recurring theme, even, given it's Gotham- of chaining yourself to duty when duty is turning the world a better place. It's.. well, the fundamentals of heroism, isn't it? and I love seeing the civilians -especially the people of Gotham, who have every reason to desert her- clinging to that quest. Go Rachel!

It was fun to find that heroism in Rachel--it's definitely there in the movies, but it gets so backgrounded to the random romance and then the fridging, I almost felt like I was finding it for the first time for myself. But Rachel is a kick-ass Gotham citizen no matter what! :)
