Jun 04, 2009 21:10

Title:  The Missing Moon
Pairing/Characters: Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne
Spoilers: Minor spoilers for World of New Krypton, but nothing major.
Rating: G (pre-slash or friendship)
Summary: Clark deals with homesickness while living on New Krypton.
Word Count: 1000
Note:  For starsandsea 's birthday!  Happy birthday to the author of some of the most lovely fic I know.

Commander El was heading home to his apartment after another long day of training. He ached; he'd have bruises all down one side later. But he was smiling as he remembered the fight he'd just had with Gor--not so much at the grunt of pain the other Kryptonian had made when Kal had punched him as at the looks of surprise and delight on the faces of the younger soldiers. )

ch: bruce wayne, ch: clark kent

GUH. Just, seriously... This was so perfect - just exactly the way it should be. (and now I'm so glad I set my own version of their reunion aside for now, because some of the dialog sounds frighteningly similar... lol!)

This is so going straight to memories - it's awesome. :happy sigh:

Yeah, I was kind of fretty about the dialogue matching because--well, there's really only so many things for folks to say at times like this, and since we approach the pairing rather similarly, I would expect our characters to echo each other. :( I want to see your take, though! There needs to be more fic addressing current canon out there...

*bounces* I'm glad you liked it, yay! Thanks!

Oh, I agree, there needs to be more. :) There can never be enough, anyway. hehe! ;)

I promise you'll see my version soon-ish - it's the next project on my agenda. (and I won't change the dialog I've already written - there's one line that's eerily close to yours, it's quite amusing. lol!)

That's happened to me before and it's always a funny and eerie feeling! It's bound to happen when tackling the same basic idea, so I'll be curious to see where we mirrored each other! :)

Wow. I think Clark should leave and go with Bruce! I don't know about this story arc but it had to be very powerful!

Oh, it's still ongoing. Poor Clark, he really is very lonely on New Krypton, he doesn't fit in with Kryptonians at all... I really want Bruce toi come back and find him.

That is so sad. He really isn't kryptonian when you come down to it. Nurture has a lot to do with what we become. I agree he needs to go back!!

I'm sure he'll do good things there, but...yeah, I hate seeing him so far from anyone who really cares about him...*sighs* I just had to smuggle Bruce there somehow!

AAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!

*hugs them both, and hugs you to*

Thats lovely.

Happy birthday! I'd have done you something, but i'm still lacking in fandom creativity. I'll owe you something for when i'm back on the wagon. Which will most likely be when i have finished the kingfisher i'm doing.

Bye!

Bittersweetness is my absolute favorite. Angst and yearning between two people so fit for each other...*sigh* totally my cup of tea.

But putting my fetish aside, this was really wonderful.

Happy birthday, by the way!

Bittersweet is one of my favorite flavors. :) It's a hard one to get just right, but I always enjoy stories where some of that tone comes through, and I enjoyed writing this one. :) Glad you liked it too!

SEE? SEE? Final Crisis-acknowledging S/B can so be written, and well, at that. The 'Neo-Nazi' comment cracked me up, because, yess. Ouch. Heh. Clark's homesickness (and also Bruce's, the way I see it) is... yeah, I really feel for him. Lovely stuff.

Hope you had a good birthday. Thanks for being in this fandom :]

I have to give credit to sevais for reminding me Bruce wouldn't let that go without a jibe. :)

Yeah, Clark hogged the POV on this one, but I'm glad some of Bruce's feeling of displacement comes through as well. I don't really know what he's been up to, but he's been gone a lot longer than a few months and I suspect he knows something about upcoming events...

I had a great birthday, although I'm really far behind on everything! I almost blew off grading to nosh on the flist and had to restrain myself... :P
