this is also very interesting! interesting how much your husband is involved - my girlfriend is occasionally allowed to beta ;) and we talk a bit at the beginning, but mostly i sort of fear her plot-disputes and at the moment i fear a lack of investment in this particular fandom.
They've each got another twenty chapters or more to go,
The talking at the beginning is the most valuable part, I think! It's SO helpful to have someone there to help you figure out possible snags...
Gah, I had no intention at all of writing such long stories, to be honest! They just seemed to require more and more space... I've always claimed my ideal length for writing is about 3-5K! Curse plotting...
informing me that Sindarin lacks the proper phonemes to make a convincing word that sounds like "cheetah." ("FINE OKAY I'LL MAKE IT A DWARVISH WORD ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?")
Ooooh, ooooh! *dances*
And I'm sorry the Nightwing and Flamebird idea got tabled, because it sounds really interesting...
Also, why are titles SO hard? It's the worst part of it all, I often find.
Yay for cheetahs! I'm loving the tent full of ocelots and lynxs and pumas...

I really loved the idea in canon, although I found the execution baffling (you know, with aging Chris up so abruptly so he could have sex with her, it was so weird!)
Any story where I get a good title early on is definitely a keeper! It just makes everything flow more easily, knowing I have one...
It makes both the fandom experience and the marriage more fun. :) We have so many conversations about fic that we've had to come up with code for "Someone who probably speaks English is nearby so we might need to change the subject." :)
My boyfriend (of 8 years) is also involved in my the talking phase of my writing/plotting, and he does generally provide a light beta as well. I wonder how often such a thing happens.
I'm impressed with how methodical and meticulous you are!

I hope often, because it's wonderful! <3

*grin* Thank you! It's a usually-fortunate side effect of grinding through writing a PhD thesis--you get really used to sticking things out and planning ahead...
