Santa Prisca? Let me guess, a dumpy little country with a tinpot dictator and military rule. :)
Clark doing his schlumpy reporter bit is always a treat! :) And typical of him not to realize how good he is at doing it.
Yay for Karen, Barbara, and Helena! That should be one interesting match between them and the Sirens, and I see what you did there, sneaking in that commentary about male neglect of women's storylines. ;)
Jack is becoming the Joker! If anyone his going to lose his marbles and not be able to tell fantasy from reality, it's going to be him.
LOL about Tim obsessed with Dick! Oh, Timmy, never change. :)
Bruce knows Lex's footsteps? How very Batty! ;)
I love the old Silver Age trope of Clark filling in for Bruce as Batman, and Bruce making Ollie jump. :)
Fun stuff! I needed the break and this was perfect!

I'm not going to take it as far as the comics canon does, but it's not quite a paradise. :)

Hehe, it works so well and is absolutely a conversation they might have in wrestling, I couldn't resist!

True, though there's a long history of people who end up "becoming" their crazy gimmicks without it actually messing them up, too (well, no more than wrestling usually messes you up, I guess). Undertaker is a good example, actually! He won't be killing anyone, definitely. That would be wayyyy too dark for this 'verse and my heart.
I love the old Silver Age trope of Clark filling in for Bruce as Batman. They used to do it so often, I rather miss it! Here's hoping it happens someday in the new DC, although it ( ... )

Well, it's not ENTIRELY Silver Age. After all, there was a BTAS (or was it STAS?) episode where Clark filled in as Bruce, too...

The back injury is a reference to that--just because I didn't want people constantly worrying for her, to be honest! *pets her and tucks her somewhere safe*

OH CLARK. I love how you're characterizing Jean Paul so far, it's just the right balance of creepy and earnest.
And then the opening chords of the Dark Knight theme's music rang out
I hear this as the BTAS theme in my head. Was delightful to see Clark pull off the deception - you write the rhythm of a tag team match very well. And nice touch with the improv with the ref - I understand that from watching for so many years but I'm sure the folks who aren't wrestling fans who picked this up appreciate those little explanatory stops, and they work very well with the narrative.
AND BABS AND KAREN AND HELENA YES! I get excited whenever new lady wrestlers appear in this story, I admit :3
BANE. INCOMING BANE. With Jean-Paul Valley already implanted in the story, I can smell where this is going...

He's hard to write! Decent guy with a kind of skewed upbringing that puts him under some odd pressures...strangely enough, Dan pointed out that in this world he and Bane will probably get along pretty well backstage, both of them being scions of very intense wrestling families...

This is an interesting series because there are a few key events I'm working toward, and a lot of the build to them is suddenly realizing "Whoops, I need to have Jean-Paul/Bane be a character well before this happens" and "Uh oh, I'd better stress that the ref is really important for communicating when someone is injured ( ... )

The fact that Joker--well, Napier, technically, but more and more he was going by "Joker" backstage as well as in the ring--had only the most barely-concealed contempt for Waylon Jones in reality meant that their working relationship was fragile at best.
Eeeeep, the Joker is starting to freak me out...
Usually the impact was absorbed by the "attacker's" arms, but this time Croc was just a tiny bit off, and the knee slammed into Clark's ribs. He felt the air leave his lungs in a painful whoosh, and his flop to the mat was an unfeigned struggle for air.
And eeeep, poor Clark!
"Helena is right," said the redheaded woman. Her voice was crisp and precise. "The problem is you can't be bothered to come up with a consistent gimmick for most of the female wrestlers, because most of the writers don't care about their storylines. I'll bet you anything the DCW has spent more time debating how much of Helena's belly to show or how big Karen's ridiculous boob window should be than planning their gimmicks. ( ... )

Bruce is always quite intrigued by that, it seems! :)
Oh, they're going to be so great going up against Selina and Pam and Harley!
It's going to be funnnnn. The Divas Division is really lighting things up about now!
AND CLARK. CLARK! :D It's so great to see Clark the reporter!
I'd missed that side of him so much! Now I must write an interview between him and Brucie, since they're both "back." The Kryptonian and Dark Knight are great, but there isn't much room for flirting there...
Ooooh, I'm enjoying Santa Prisca! Puerto Rico has a long history of wrestling, so I'm basing it a bit on that...
