And so we say goodbye to The Scarf. I loved this, just the right dynamic between the pair of them and Sherlock's insecurities.
Oh and:

John waited for Sherlock's retort, but all he eventually got was a small snore and the satisfaction of knowing he had gotten the last word this time.

is just a wonderful ending to the chapter. I doubt John gets that satisfaction very often :)

Alas, Scarf! We hardly knew ye...

I was...really surprised to find that Sherlock was a little insecure about this all! Not that he's willing to let on to John very much, but I had not expected the little hints that he's not feeling sure of himself, and they just make me want to hug him...

*grin* Now I have this image of John struggling to stay awake so that he can finally have the last word and them having sleepy battles of mumbled "last words"... :)

"I think I might have something of a talent for this," Sherlock murmured somewhat later.

Oh! The powers of deduction! :)

Still really like their dynamic and the exploration of trust and insecurities.

*grin* "Let's see...putting all the data together--oh! Interesting!" :D

"Trust and insecurities" are just...mmm, catnip. Sherlock is one of those tempting characters who doesn't like to admit even to himself that he might be insecure, but there are hints that it's lurking there...

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Safe BDSM is a rare and shiny and beautiful diamond of goodness, and I love how ultimately it's not about what they're doing to each other, it's about the mental dynamics at play - the build of trust and the way John needs to be able to slip into that state of submission that makes it possible, guh, Best Thing Ever.

*hugs* Mmm, I think it was the focus on trust in the prompt that really reeled me in because yesss, that's the sexiest thing about BDSM, not the trappings and props (although those are certainly fun) but the thrill of trust when it's finally achieved after negotiation and slow build. Which...well, "negotiation" doesn't sound half as sexy as "cuffs and riding crops," but here we are. *grin*

Oh, I continue to love this! How Sherlock stopped the instant John used the safe word, which, really, I doubt any other (human) character could do - and then their having tea afterwards, just seems so them, you know? And John reassuring Sherlock, I loved that!

hands deft enough to pluck one thread of truth from a tangle of facts, controlled enough to cut reality like a diamond.

Eeeee! So lovely!

I'm looking forward to the next part! :)

Ahhh, it's kind of a Bruce moment, which made me really happy! And I've been surprised how many little bits of reassurance Sherlock needs and how unsure of himself he is...I went into the story assuming he was quite confident and have learned otherwise!

That line you picked, I wrote on the bus on the way home to post it, lol! There's something about buses and trains that I find rather inspiring, somehow, if I could just stop worrying about people looking over my shoulder... *grin*

A wonderful next step, I love how we've skipped ahead to when John's already trusting him, and John seeing and giving some of what Sherlock needs in return. And the tray! Spoiled boys, indeed, and I bet Mrs. Hudson is perfectly aware that they're having sex up there of some sort and loves it. ;) Or I could be projecting.

There is a fair amount of skipping in this series, my tolerance of a slow build was high but not high enough to show every single step of John coming to trust Sherlock. *grin*

Mrs. Hudson is SO aware of what's going on, lol... "You need some fruits and tea, Sherlock? Well, this one time...but I'm not your housekeeper! *smirk*"
