Okay, I can already tell that this whole comment is going to be basically just incoherent squee.

"Oh," Clark whispered, startled into joy unforeseen. "Oh."

\o/ I love that it's just pure happiness for him.

"I solemnly swear to live by honor and for glory..." he whispered, and Clark caught his breath at the sound of that childish oath said by this menacing figure.

"...to protect the innocent and comfort the wronged..." Clark continued, his voice hoarse.

"...and to be in all things brave and true," they finished together.

This was brilliant. Seriously.

Of course Bruce had a plan. and then "Of course you can. My God," he said. "Of course you can."

:D :D :D :D :D They really do know each other better than they know themselves, even though the secrets only just came out.

The battle was already over, Mannheim just didn't know it yet.

Such utter faith in Bruce. I love it.'

It would be unseemly for Gotham's dark knight of vengeance to turn a somersault in midair from sheer excitement, of course.

Fortunately, it was early morning and no one had seemed to be watching.

It's funny, that's such a Robin thing to do. It really brings out all the ways he's not just younger here but happier as well.

He carried with him into the void only a memory of uncanny power and a dark mask.

Oh dear. It's interesting -- to some extent, this battle means that there were supervillains before either of them got going, but at the same time this means that Bruce is inspiring his own villains. It's a nice twisty moment in the middle of triumph.

Superman couldn't help giving the paralyzed mecha a friendly smile and wave as he took Mannheim back to the Metropolis police.

Somehow, I really like the idea that Clark just can't stop himself from being sort of a dick. Not that the men don't deserve it, but it's so un-Superman-like to rub it in.

The spin ended in a slithering tangle of blue and red cloth, their capes half-wound around them

I just picked this sentence because I really like it, but really this whole paragraph and the one before it are just GUH and also YAY and me grinning madly.

"Oh, my love. My demon lord, my army of vampires--" He broke off as Bruce started laughing.

Bruce's fine sense of his own absurdity makes me so happy. And of course, of course Clark can get something as ridiculous as that out with absolute sincerity. I swear it's one of his superpowers.

Even after only one night of wearing it, it felt like removing a living part of him, leaving him naked and vulnerable.

Oooooh. Lovely.

The dark gloves spiralled to the ground below, followed shortly after by the top half of Clark's uniform.

Their reunion sex gets to be flying sex? You're so good to us.

"And, um, something I call heat vision."

"So, what? You can shoot lasers out of your eyes?"

I love that Bruce knows him well enough to immediately understand exactly what that is. It's not exactly the most accurate name for what he does.

"That's...unlikely," said Clark. "So...what are you planning to do?"

I can almost hear Clark thinking, "bore me? Are you insane?" right now.

"I want it so much, I've wanted it so long," he said in a voice Bruce had never heard from him: resonant and deep, filled with certainty, which only made the pleading edge to it that much hotter.

OMFG, that said in Superman-voice is just...*wibble*

his utility belt and the all-purpose lubricant in one pouch

I know there are practical reasons that he has this, but it still made me snicker. What, Bruce, no condoms too?

For now, there was only Clark's face and Clark's hands touching his hair. There was only Clark's voice, and an amazing story that Bruce now realized he had been part of all along.

EEEEE. I'm totally incoherent right now and just sort of flailing and smiling. This is so \o/

And when Alfred and Martha find them, they're both going to be so relieved that their boys aren't alone in this. This is just shining things and joy and light and \o/

I love that it's just pure happiness for him.

I just love writing scenes where things suddenly all make sense for the POV character, it's so satisfying. And I hadn't even thought of the oath recurring until I got right there, and was like "Well, they need to say something that doesn't expose who they are, but that means something to them--oh!"

It's funny, that's such a Robin thing to do. It really brings out all the ways he's not just younger here but happier as well.

*grin* It really is! It kind of parallels Clark's slightly dickish behavior--while Superman does have that (rather unfortunate) history of sometimes being a jerk at times, it does sort of hint that they've rubbed off on each other just a bit without realizing it.

Oh dear. It's interesting -- to some extent, this battle means that there were supervillains before either of them got going, but at the same time this means that Bruce is inspiring his own villains. It's a nice twisty moment in the middle of triumph.

*nods* That's one of those things with Batman, isn't it? Clark too, to a lesser extent, but Batman does seem to make his own enemies at times.

Bruce's fine sense of his own absurdity makes me so happy. And of course, of course Clark can get something as ridiculous as that out with absolute sincerity. I swear it's one of his superpowers.

Oh man, a Bruce who can laugh at himself is one of my favorite things in the world to write. As is a Clark that can say the most ludicrous things and totally mean them. :)

I love that Bruce knows him well enough to immediately understand exactly what that is. It's not exactly the most accurate name for what he does.

I'd never really thought of it before this chapter, but it is really vague, isn't it? Did they not have lasers when they started referring to it? I know at first the "beams from his eyes that melt things" was called X-Ray vision, for some reason, and then we settled into heat vision somehow...

I can almost hear Clark thinking, "bore me? Are you insane?" right now.

"YOU ARE A GIANT NINJA BAT. I AM UNLIKELY TO BE BORED BY YOU."

I know there are practical reasons that he has this, but it still made me snicker. What, Bruce, no condoms too?

Thank goodness for the practical reasons (no really! Um, lock picking and stuff!) because I COULD NOT figure out how to get lube into this scene. *facepalm* Bat-lube to the rescue!

And when Alfred and Martha find them, they're both going to be so relieved that their boys aren't alone in this.

Yes! Oh man, think what a relief that must be, and the talk they're going to have later, lol...

Thanks so much for the awesome comment and I'm really glad you enjoyed!
